One of the truly great showstopper talents of the last century. The beautiful Dorothy Loudon left a legacy of greatness. And her RANGE of comedy mixed with sadness is unparalleled.

We use this expression, "stopping the show." Well, I was at a performance of the show from which this song came, The Fig Leaves Are Falling. It was a commercial failure. But when Dorothy Loudon did this number, the show ACTUALLY, LITERALLY, STOPPED. In over 50 years of theatre going, I have never seen that before or since. I don't mean, she got a massive ovation. I mean the audience would not allow the show to continue unless and until she did the song again. She did. She had to.
