Because music drives culture and if they produce crap then culture and everything goes to crap. By design. If you sing about love, family, kids, working hard, compassionate, caring etc etc then society follows. But today they sing about bitc-es, hoes, stealing robbing shooting no family no daddies etc etc culture imitates what they see/hear.

@mjum9014
@mjum9014 11 ай бұрын
@anthonytaylor7928 You are correct. If you were talented enough to appear on any one or all 4 of the following shows meant you were special: Don Kirshner's Rock Concert, Midnight Special, Soul Train and/or American Bandstand. Ms Dorothy Moore paid her dues, so much so, that she appeared on all 4 shows! I don't feel you were trying to censor anyone but trying to make it a teachable moment that may have fallen short; so I will Preach. So many times people make comments like "they were one hit wonders, etc., etc", especially about R&B, Country & Jazz artist, but what folks fail to realize is some artists were popular in their main/original genre before one of their songs crossed over to "Pop". Artist like Dorothy Moore still have a following (of fans) because many of those folks knew her music Before and After "Misty Blue" became a big hit.
@piustwelfth
@piustwelfth 11 ай бұрын
@@mjum9014 You mentioned that Dorothy Moore appeared on four major TV music shows. I'll wager she sang the same song on all four shows and likely never appeared on all four shows again despite her great and obvious vocal talent. That's the point of my comment above.
@mjum9014
@mjum9014 11 ай бұрын
piustwelfth Well good thing you didn't wager because you would have lost. I understand you know little about her career. But, she appeared on Soul Train over several years, so multiple times. Why, because she had multiple R&B/Soul hit records. You are judging her career by a narrow scope because it seems as though you believe an artist has to have U.S. "Pop" hits to be big or relevant. For goodness sakes the woman has been nominated for a Grammy 4 times, in different years. She also has a greatest hits album ("hits", plural not singular) and she has put out Gospel albums. Could she have been bigger in some folks eyes? Sure! And many think Kate Bush should have been bigger considering she has never had a #1 song in the U.S., heck, Kate has barely charted in the U.S. but she's big and relevant to many. I am making this post not because you'll consider thinking outside the box but because I hope other people will read & learn more about Ms. Moore's singing career. I'm glad she stayed the course and continued to record and tour, even when some paid her no mind, past Misty Blue, or wouldn't look beyond the U.S. Pop charts to discover more of her music. Lol, Dorothy Moore is obviouly big/relevant/popular enough or folks wouldn't be listening to this tune and making comments on youTube almost 48 years after the song was released. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/mne4daiYbNJmmbc Has 14 million views

This is probably the most favourite song of mine, Miss Moore has the voice of an Angel….I’ve been listening to it ever since it was released. Everytime I went in to the pub I would play it on the juke box, sometimes a few times an evening, much to other customers annoyance! I had a g/f whom I played it over and over to, becoming ‘our song’ I thought, until one night she told me she didn’t like it! All worked out ok, we’ve been together 50 years in 2026 and I still play it, loudly!

My word! Dorothy Moore put her WHOLE foot in this one! My grandmother loved this song - every time I'd be playing it, she'd yell from the other room to turn it up. She would've loved this performance.

My favourite band by a country mile. Always excellent lyrics and music coupled with a unique fashion style. I now believe in myself and the lyrics I am capable of putting together make me very proud. Perhaps one day Kevin and I could work together. I would absolutely love that. That is why in my mind the next album has to be your best.

I cannot listen to this without thinking of my boy. This is one of his all-time favourite songs. Who knew? I remember him randomly singing along to the whole song in the back of the car. It was 2000...he was 12😊 Another of his favs was The Four Tops' Sugar Pie Honey Bunch....he has inherited our very eclectic taste in music❤😊 🇬🇧

Beautiful! That soulful voice rates right up there with Etta James. One of my favourite songs ever. Like many have posted here brings you back to a time of innocence. Never get tired of this masterpiece!
