I am exploring the beautiful village of Kingston in Dorset that over looks the impressive castle remains at Corfe. But I am here to have a look at both churches - one of which is now in private hands.
Kingston is situated about two miles south of Corfe Castle and five miles west of Swanage. The village of Kingston is situated on a hill near Swyre Head, the highest point of the Purbeck Hills. The village is surrounded by woods and stands at a height of over 400 ft (120 Metres) above sea level and can be seen from far away.

Another great vid Richard! Kingston was such a lovely little village. I thought it amusing when you said about St James that is beautiful but ugly. I literally had just said that about the village. Cause all the buildings were that same gray stone - as beautiful & picturesque it looked - I thought how dreary it must all looked in mid Winter. When all the trees are dormant & the sky is gray, everything must just look - well, gray! St. James was quite stunning though. I'd like to find a still photo of that round stained glass window & see if I could make an afghan pattern from it! The 2nd church - yes it would be fun to live in an old church like that! 💒 Not sure I'd want one w/ a graveyard attached to it though!😬

Another great video. I must visit the area again. St James was huge and lu es up to uts name of Cathedral of the Purbecks! I still prefer smaller churches though and the old, wild churchyard with the cow parsley was the best part! Thanks

That church might as well be a castle, a wonderful looking building. The best way is to know nothing about an area, and just see what you might find....glorious views.

The stone cottages are every bit a beautiful as the cotswalds. I love your passion for the churches even though you say you aren’t religious. The churches there are always so pretty and many ornate. Image having to bring all that stone up the hill to build the church. Hard work. I haven’t seen much of England that isn’t gorgeous. I’m not keen on the larger cities. Again, thank you very much for taking me.

What a lovely village and a curious arrangement of churches. The Victorian one looked very High in more ways than one and unusually gloomy inside (unless your camera didn't adjust from the bright sunshine outside.) I liked the look of the redundant Chapel of Ease more!

I headed down to Dorset, for a cyder drinking convention! Well that was my original intention! But then I found,I got a big shock! I couldn’t find one single yokel in a smock! That’s gone and shattered my every deep rooted myth! But I do know to be careful, when walking backwards on a cliff!?!

We camped at a site just below Corfe castle about 20 odd years ago. All I remember was sitting in the car eating breakfast with doors open and a swallow flew straight past me, in the passenger door and out the drivers door!

What a lovely looking village Richard. I googled 'St James Kingston Dorset' and found this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_James%27s_Church,_Kingston,_Purbeck its known as 'The Cathedral of the Purbecks' so your remark about it looking cathedral like was spot on.

Well yet again I thought I knew Corfe castle quite well yet I never knew those other two churches were there. I’d have loved to ask that owner of the church what happens with the bodies buried in the church itself, surly you can’t just dig them up and they even inter some in the walls so that’s intriguing. I know the church next to the castle and the tiny museum around the corner and the steam train station just up the road. Last year as I came out the church I noticed a small fire upon the hill and a few minutes later it was an inferno with fire engines everywhere even up on the hill itself and I managed to film a fair bit of that. Not to many miles away is a really nice church and the small graveyard which is 5 minutes walk from the church lays in a small grave with not to much to mark it out for such a famous man as T. E. Laurence or Laurence of Arabia. His little cottage is hardly a cottage at all it’s so small with I think just one tiny window and no electricity so he was a real eccentric. Once again a perfect little episode with a church that wouldn’t look out of place in Transylvania.

A beautiful Purbeck village. Not a huge fan of that Victorian church - it’s quite austere and was obviously not built at the most flamboyant time of the victorians. It is huge as well!
