The Dortmund Christmas Market (in German: Dortmunder Weihnachtsmarkt is an annual outdoor Christmas market held every year in central Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. With more than three and a half million visitors from 300 stalls, it is one of the biggest Christmas markets in the world and brings tourists from all over the world to Dortmund. It is estimated that the city benefits from a 100 million Euros profit from this 38-day-long tradition.

Here I am walking around the world’s biggest Christmas tree in Dortmund, Germany. At around 46m or 150 feet tall, it is enormous. The King Kong of Christmas trees is made up of more than 1.700 spruces and featuring over 45.000 lights. It forms the centrepiece of Dortmund’s Christmas market, which draws thousands of tourists and kind of explains why the German city invests in a 40 tonne Christmas tree every year. Dortmund also houses one of the largest and prettiest Christmas markets in all of Germany - the Weihnachtsstadt. Featuring more than 300 beautiful wooden stalls, this magical winter village spans the entire city centre and is guaranteed to have something for everyone in the family, young and old. All of the wooden stalls are artfully decorated, and offer visitors everything they could ever want from a Christmas market, from handmade decorations to unique gifts and regional specialities. Of course, there is also plenty of steaming hot Glühwein on offer. Dortmund is a large city super famous in Germany for its football team, which is frequently ranked among the country’s top teams.
