This is one of my absolute favorite episodes. Randy’s my favorite character, with Butters a close second, and this episode is Randy’s chaos on full display. Also, calling it an “old fashioned” is somehow perfect.

I worked on several Food Network shows with Bobby Flay in the late 2000's and early 2010s. We also had a culinary department to help prep dishes. The reason for this is because sometimes the segments didn't go well and we would have to reset and start over. Meaning sometimes the food gets over cooked. Flay was awesome and very down to earth. The food was also amazing. Good times

southparks A & B story lines will always link together. I remember seeing a video of Trey & Matt give a college lecture on writing, & they broke down their "framework" for the show. its basically -a plot THEREFORE b plot BECAUSE a plot THEREFORE conclusion. This framework kind of forces you to be a coherent writer, & i believe they even said they'd scrap episodes if it sounded wrong while in this template. an example of the opposite -a plot AND b plot AND a plot AND conclusion. when a story feels like its jumping all over the place, its usually written like this.

This reminds me of the Thor: Ragnarok Shake Weight scene with Skurge and how so few people got the joke because they were all too young to know what that idiot contraption was. It was as useless as the old HeavyHands weights for joggers in the 1980s. But, hey, people once thought Pet Rock was a good idea, too.

I didn’t get the “I’m Amanda” joke until just now but holy god, what an insane subtle bit. For clarification, I’m 99% sure that it’s parodying the “I’m amanda/I’m a man, duh” meme. The hotline is meant to imitate real “hot” phone lines, so it’s like “oh obviously if this were real a lady would’ve picked up in this situation,” plus the fact that no guy is named “Amanda” (probably? Idk) confirms that this was intentional. Insane layers of humor here
