Ryuk told Light about the whole losing memory of the Death Note if he gives it back to him thing in the first episode.

Misa forgot everything about deathnote except light. So she only remembers that light is her boyfriend other than that every memory related her deathnotes are gone including her shinigami eyes but her life span remain same after the eye deal.

When Light was thinking how if he kills L, the other task force members will be suspicious of him, and you said, "He can choke on a sweet," made me laugh. That would actually be a believable death for L.
