I wouldn't try to overanalyze Bradly's explanation of his eye. It's workings is never a plot point and it's abilities are vague at best. Just think of it as he has super sight.

It's kind of silly, honestly - that their titles are basically just synonymous with their names - I suppose it's a translation thing: if they were named after the "Seven Sins" in western culture, a Japanese audience would've needed the clarification in their own language (that's what I'm guessing, at least). But in the dubbed version it's just redundant.

This show is impossible to anticipate the plot, it's just that good. Oh and you guys can know this now, since Bradley can age unlike the other homunculus he can't heal himself, like if you kill him he's just dead BUT he's still one of the strongest of the homunculus.

Homunculus (plural homunculi) are a major mythical creature. They can be made of almost anything, so often they're basically statues brought to life. Since that was one of Wonder Woman's origins, that version of her could be considered a homunculus. I think golems count too.

Homunculus is a term generally associated with real life alchemy - golems are basically the same thing, but derived from Jewish folklore. The main difference between the two is that alchemists believed a homunculus to be a scientific creation; whereas the Golem is created by a "magic incantation". In other words, they are basically the same, but made in different ways. There are many other versions of the same concept in other mythologies.

I remembered feeling really sad when I first read that scene in the manga. Greed and his friends just appeared I already loved them. So reading that they died just in a few chapter after that really make me sad.

one thing i liked about this over the original FMA anime series in the early 2000's is it is in fact much more expansive. watching brotherhood for the first time my expectations were shattered when the reveals of King Bradley and everything was just in the first 14 episodes. since i didnt read the manga, everything that came after taht was probably one of the best surprises. it was a nice change of pace from the depressing bleakness of the first anime.

Totally. The pacing in 2003 is slower, and the buildup is excellent because of it. The first 14-ish episodes of FMAB are kinda rushed, likely because the creators assumed their audience had already seen the 2003 FMA.

Hmm the story so far is like a giant jigsaw puzzle with the edges coming together but you have no idea what the big picture is yet. Think the next few episodes introduce some kick ass characters too if I remember correctly.

The manga did a better job of concealing King Bradley's status as a villain for longer, as he had more moments of cheerful goofiness (for example, he arrived in Dublith dressed as a tourist in a Hawaiian shirt)... which also made the revelation of his true identity all the more chilling. But even though Bradley's true allegiance was less of a secret in FMAB, the revelation still works because him being a bad guy pales in comparison to the fact that despite being the ruler of a country, he is just a pawn to a greater power (and when measuring ages, he's the baby kid in the Homunculus family).

Sloth in the original FMA and Brotherhood are completely different. Here in brotherhood he's a hulking behemoth... In the original she was a beautiful secretary within the government who was actually made by Ed and Al and was the homunculus they made as their mother... but since she wasn't complete at the time she looked like a pus belching abomination before taking shape after eating philosopher stone failures.

"The one in the flask" is the episode... waiting for that and their minds to get blown. No spoilers but you two, if you read the comments your so close with predictions but still off. I can't wait for you guys to get further. This is one series to savor. FYI it's not a spoiler, the guy with Scar with the mustache is from the Manga and the 2003 anime. He is a small plot in the early parts of the show they didn't rehash with this version. This is a remake covering what was in the Manga and the 2003 anime diverts when they head south before they hit rush valley. So up to then this brotherhood is rehash fast forward of getting plot missed in 2003 in and setting up for the remainder of the series.

Nah, in FMAB the homonculus are bound to hide their nature. Wrath is made to be restrained, Gluttony is always refused his lunch, Sloth works al the time, Lust is never lustful.
