The real metro line need is metro line 3 which would be the pride of Mumbai with underground stations. And this line is what wont be commissioned anytime soon. And that is the problem. In all other cities such core or major lines are always commissioned first and very soon. But Mumbai being Mumbai knows how to NOT develop - promote crime in politics, not solve the slum problem, don't build infra quickly. I mean for wanting to be called a global city, Mumbai does NOT even have a world class convention and exhibition center, is NOT the headquarters of any global development finance bank, lacks ultra fast transport to the airports, world-class hospitals, universities, research & development institutions etc. Mumbai administrators need to lay down a vision plan for the city and build the city to that vision. But when the civic body is ruled by a bunch of thugs, of course the city will NOT develop to its true potential.
