The saddest thing about this interview is the advice Neils doctors gave to him about smoking and it’s effect it would have on his voice. I never got the chance to see him live and it’s my greatest regret! And like I’ve read before on this site we need more people like Neil on this planet right now. I could listen to him forever. What a great interview Michael. What I love most about this interview is how directly and quickly and honestly Neil answers the questions asked of him. Politicians worldwide could learn a lot from just watching this interview. Thanks to both of you. ❤

Hi, Mandy. Respectfully, Not a loaded question and I am simply asking out of curiosity because you peaked my interest, if you could change the words you wrote above, would you stay with "Greatest" regret? Meaning in your life, do you really consider this your "greatest" regret?

His songs Heartlight and Hello Again make me bawl each and every time I hear them. I'm 51 and Neil was my mom's favorite singer. We watched the Jazz Singer so many times and I was obsessed with E.T. Wow, what a long, but interesting interview. I was influenced at a young age by Neil Diamond's musical talent and songwriting. It's impossible I think, to not think about what sort of person someone is when you listen to the music they craft. I'm glad I was able to develop my musical tastes during the 70s when so much great music was abundant, and songwriters like Neil Diamond became successful. I have to say, he was such a handsome man, I hated to see him smoking.

Neil Diamond, my favorite singer all my life. My opinion, nobody better. After this interview, which was very interesting, like him even more. A couple of the questions were none of his business, but overall, not bad. I heard over the years that he wrote Sweet Caroline for Caroline Kennedy.Wonder where that came from. Very sharp man is our Neil. Smart, Intelligent. Sincere, Humble, to name a few, and not too bad to look at either. Before I ran across this interview on my (Nook Tablet) I also saw A Concert he had in England that I had never seen before. One of his best concerts ever. Had a lot of celebrities, they ask questions at break time, and Neil has a great sense of humor, very funny. Enjoyed it very much. Also on the Phil Donahue show. Neil was the show that day. Another show that Princess Diane attended, they were all super. If nobody has seen them you can probably get them on youtube. Glad I watched this interview, as I learned a lot about Neil that I didn't know, and my opinion of him went up 100%. Still love him.

The first time my sister got us tickets to see him perform in Salt Lake City her friend said "oh lord when he sings I love watching his knees"! YUP I love every move he makes! My girls could sing every song of his when they were 5 years old. My youngest daughter would try to mimic him and one year in Seattle as an adult she dressed up like him(chest hairs and all) and would sing his songs the crowd ask her to! She even won first place! I so enjoy listening to people who have mastered their art. Neil is one of the great song writers of our time. This man creates what would appear on paper as contrived dribble to me (Song Sung Blue, I'm A Believer) and turns it into something profound. Then, way at the other end of the spectrum, he takes profound and lofty emotions (I Am I Said, Done Too Soon) and brings them down to earth. Incredible talent.

I remember when I was ten years old my sister brought home a Neil Diamond Album that she got for her birthday, from some of her friends. We all were so excited to see what she got. My parents were very stricked about what music we listen to. Both parents worked. So, we all promised we wouldn't tell them about this album that she got it was our secret. We would listen to it when they weren't home. We kept it hidden in the album wrack for almost a year before our mother decided to organize the albums. She got suspicious because I kept trying to take over that chore. Then in a panic I ran & to get my sisters & tell them what was going on. Pretty soon, she had three girls trying in vain to get her away from the album rack! OMG she found it. She was furious, after her interrogation. She was so upset 😡 she raised Neil up, lifted her knee & was going to crack it in half. We Tackled Her!! 😮 We were already in tears, but now we were squeeling & stopping her from breaking that album. 😢😅 She went into shock & stood there, staring at us in Total Disbelief!. She Never Ever, had a three , hysterical daughters hold a resistance Mutiny, againest her before! I think we scared her, but at that point we all thought, she brought us into this world. She could take us out! 😢 She put the album on top of the piano & said we will wait until your father gets home & discuss this at dinner! She Never Ever, said that!: Well. The minute my dad walked in the door we all ran up to him, giving him hugs & Kisses took his breif case, coat, brought him his slippers! Total Over kill!❤ My Dad was so surprised & happy! Our Mother was rolling her Eyes. My dad was looking at her smiling like, What? Well they had a private meeting before dinner. He was having a hard time keeping a straight face during dinner. 😮 The talk came up! So, Who is this Hippy Neil Diamond Guy? 😂 😅 Well, after dinner we all went into the living room, they sat on the sofa we put the album on the record player & they had to listen to it & approve it or Not!! My Dad hid be hind a News Paper, My mother hid behind a book. & We sat & watched for any kind of reaction from them. After the first side played without any objection, we played the second side. Which we began singing along with! Music was a really big deal in our house! Music, singing & dancing! When we got through the album! We sat quietly waitng for a verdict! My Dad looked at my mom & said, well, at least you understand the words!😂 Our Mothers reaction to that was Priceless, but of course we got lectured, mostly for not letting them know & Keeping it a secret for a Year! Thank God, Hippy Neil Diamond got approved & welcomed in the family. Neil's music 🎶 was a beautiful Noise in our house 💕 & hearts! I spent hours dancing to his music. I found as I grew up dancing to his music, how the meaning of his words changed. Sometimes those moments were so profound. It would click in my head & stop me in my tracks. I would sit down next to the speaker & play the song again & spend time really thinking about this new Revaluation. Then days laterI had to change my whole dance routine because I had a different understanding. We fought for his music, I am glad we did because he's my big brother! Over the years, We even got our parents to attend a few Concerts! ❤

He did create a Beautiful 🌹 His Music is that Beautiful 🌹.. As a Child My big Sister and I would listen to Neil Diamond as we were playing our games outside with our dog "rusty" Mum would be playing Hot August Night By Neil Diamond. Cooking a Lamb Roast, His music is so sad yet still Beautiful to Mum and I now, as our Earth Angel my big Sister and Mum's and Dad's First born passed in my mum's arm's waiting for an ambulance 1970s from Leaukimia. I have p.t.s.d so no memory of my big Sister passing, it would brake my Soul if I remembered, Dad A Brain Tumour and our "Rusty" My Love to My Big Sister and My Dad, and our "rusty" gone Home/Heaven too soon. They are Now Mum and my Guardian Angel's until we see them again when it's our time to go Home/Heaven. 😢🕯🙏🕯🙏🧸🕯🐕❤

I think as a fan of Neil Diamond, it is important to get to know the man, his music is who he is, he has often said this, he is a great orator during his shows, again another aspect as to who Neil Diamond is as a man, he connects and gets a response, there are very few artistes who can connect with their audience in such a way, Neil Diamond is a person first and foremost and a musician thereafter, his writing and performing come from who he is, from deep inside, his music is who he is. Genius.

A brilliant, beautiful soul. Fell in love with him during the Jazz Singer. Saw it 7 times in the theater and countless times since. Saw him twice in in concert. He took me to church and back. God bless him.

Diamond is a bit serious which to me is a cover for his anxiety. He is clearly trying to deal with this. His music speaks for itself and we can all relate which is why he is so loved. He connects with us, his audience which is his genius

Disagree . Back then Neil was shy . That's how he was back then .. doesn't mean he has anxiety
