This is seriously the best guide I've found about this game ever. Thanks for the slides and not shying away from explaining a role to beginner's. I love how every other role has all of these technical elements as to why you might like to play them and Offlane is basically just: "You thrive on the pain and misery of other people. Here little Timmy; have a hammer: go ruin that other kids day"

I have never in my life played dota, but I’ve played many adjacent team games and especially related mobas like Smite and League. I cannot tell you why I came across this video or clicked on it, but this is honestly one of the best informative game videos I think I know of. The clarity and openness to starting dota is really nice to see in gaming. I honestly am considering playing it after seeing this because of how clearly you explained how the roles work. I typically come from a background of playing both hard carry type roles (bot lane in league/adc in smite) but being able to contextualize why I play those roles and where they fit into the granddaddy of mobas is really enlightening. I honestly am considering picking up pos4 or 2 when I decide to start dota now Bc I’ve become more of a leader role in other team games I’ve picked up since moving on from league and smite. Overall I am super grateful the algorithm gave me this video

My friend recently introduced me to dota, and he's been so good at helping me become better. We usually play single draft (my choice) i think its pretty fun and i believe that it helps me learn more heroes. He always made me go for a carry hero at first and he used to ward and pull and stack and help me farm. However, ive started liking supporting more and im enjoying the game a lot. Omg the last one is so true. When I started playing dota probably 6 yrs ago, my friends told me to play as hard support which rly hard to digest as new player (told me to pull camps, wards, buy dust etc etc), resulting in me not enjoying the game & chose not to continue playing lol. Great guide! To your point about playing something fun as a new player, I first started trying Warlock in Hard Support and had trouble controlling his golems so I felt like I was having low impact in game, then I switched to Lina and immediately felt like I had more impact since her ult is just a single shot ability and her other abilities seemed more damaging. Dota2protracker currently says she's a carry or mid laner but I was playing her in same support lane which was funny.

In my opinion support players are very knowledgeable about the game mechanics and very versatile role. There are numerous of times that support players are giving the enemy team a hard time during clash and farming due to they can spam skills and itema lls during clash plus they do warding and dewarding for both offensive and defensive

Its worth noting that dota is an ever-evolving game and these roles are just what is meta currently. A good group of 5 players might have a completely different setup doing something like a Tri lane, a setup that has a dedicated jungler, or something even more unique that hasn't been discovered yet. Dota is a very open game that encourages you to experiment and find your own way to play the game.
