I think that sentiment about being the better team 90% of the time wouldn't matter if your opponent got lucky in that 10% has a lot of caveats. While I agree in general, you are also allowing those lucky opportunities to come up, so are you being the better team at that moment? Having the discipline to not throw and close up the game, secure the win is also part of the skillset you need. I guess the sentiment I'm agreeing to is that the 90% portion where you are the better team means nothing if you can't close up the game, and the longer the game goes the more opportunities for you to make mistakes and the opponent to capitalise
