I played Prince of Persia The Lost Crown this summer and it was amazing. What The Lost Crown was for the Prince of Persia series, it looks like what Ragebound is going to be for the Ninja Gaiden series. I'm very much interested in Ragebound and I will be getting this day 1 physically. This game looks very cool and unique 🤓

It's back as being more 2d NG side scroller , I grew up with the nes trilogy myself, and i love those . But it seems it is not in the og NG universe but the newer ones . I would have prefered that more a NG 4 essentially with all of that creappy body horror designs but this one looks awesome too . Hopefully some day the og NES trilogy gets a remake , or big Remastered. We need those games to be re release for modern hardware too and not forgotten and lost .

The earlier releases from Dotemu actually had somewhat dodgy reputation with questionable emulation and possibly code swiped from MAME. However, the more recent releases from the company have been solid and that is likely due to getting actually good developers such as Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap remake, SOR4), Tribute Games (TMNT: Shredder's Revenge) and now The Game Kitchen for Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound. 🥷

I like how Ryu’s clearly the same one from the modern games, but Kenji has grown up to basically be the NES Ryu here. It’s cool to see him actually become the new protagonist. Also crazy to see the first new Ninja Gaiden game in like 10 years, the first in 16 years that actually looks good, and the first new 2D entry since the NES. Definitely excited for this!

I feel like people don’t truly appreciate how great it is that a company will use resources to do a proper 2d platformer with 16bit-esque sprites in this age. I love sprites way more than 3d which will never be able to evoke the same feeling as hand rendered sprites

THAT is how you upgrade 2D Ninja Gaiden! Not that low-effort Ninja Gaiden Trilogy nonsense Tecmo probably assigned interns to port to the SNES back in the mid-90s. The only advantage the NGT SNES cart had over the original NES trilogy was having the three games conveniently in one place, especially after NG3 started getting pricey for some reason.

I bought _Ninja Gaiden II_ from a garage sale back in 1992 and the owner was like "be careful... that will make your blood boil." It's the only NES game that had "HARD TO BEAT" stamped on the cartridge. Temco wasnt playing around! I couldn't get passed the 4th level and always chucked the controller. 😅
