ഞാൻ 1974 എനിക്ക് 10 വയസ്സ്‌ ഉള്ളപ്പോൾ ഇവിടെ കുറച്ച് ദിവസം താമസിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. അന്ന് എന്റെ പിതാവ് ഡാം പണിയുന്ന ഇറിഗേഷ്യൻ ഓഫിസിലെ' ആയിരുന്നു ജോലി. ഡാം പണിയുന്നതിന് മണ്ണ് മാറ്റുന്ന സമയത്ത് ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.അന്ന് ബംഗ്ലാവ് എക്സികുട്ടിവ് എൻജിനിയറുടെ താമസ സ്ഥലം ആയിരുന്നു. കാർ കടന്ന് വന്ന ഇരുമ്പ് കൊണ്ട് ഉളള ചെറിയ പാലം പോലെ ഉള്ളതിന്റെ ചുറ്റും ആണ് കിടങ്ങ് .കിടങ്ങ് കടക്കുന്നതിനാണ് ഈ ഇരുമ്പ് പാലം.വണ്ടി കടന്നാൽ ഇത് മാറ്റി വെക്കും. 20 കൊല്ലം മുൻപ്' വീണ്ടും ഈ ബംഗ്ലാവിൽ ഞാൻ പോയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

ഞാൻ ആ നാട്ടുകാരനാണ്.അതുകൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ഇവിടുത്തെ കുറിച്ച് നന്നായി അറിയാം, കുറേ വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് മുമ്പ് ഇതെല്ലാം നടന്ന് പോയി വിശതമായി കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്, മണ്ണാർക്കാട് കല്ലടിക്കോട് ഭാകങ്ങളിൽ ഉള്ള ജനങ്ങൾക്ക് ഏറ്റവും എളുപ്പത്തിൽ കൊയമ്പത്തൂരിലേക്ക് എത്താനും ക്രിഷി ചെയ്യുന്ന കർശകർക്ക് അവരുടെ വിൽപ്പന വസ്ഥുക്കളെല്ലാം മാർകറ്റിലേക്ക് എളുപ്പത്തിൽ എത്തിക്കാനും കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന ഒരു വഴിയാണ് ഇപ്പോൾ അടഞ്ഞ്‌ കിടക്കുന്നത്, അവിടുത്തെ കാഴ്ച്ചകളും ഡാമും കാടും ഭഗ്ലാവും എല്ലാം സാതാരണക്കാരിൽ നിന്നും മറച്ച് വെക്കുന്നു. എന്നതൊഴിച്ചാൽ എന്ത് സംരക്ഷണ മാണ് ഇവിടെ ഉള്ളത്, ചില ഉദ്ധോഗസ്ഥർ അവരുടെ ഫാമിലി കൾക്കും വേണ്ടപ്പെട്ടവർക്കും വേണ്ടി മാത്രമായി ഇവിടം മാറ്റിയിട്ടുണ്ട്, സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു പോലും കഷ്ം സാധാരക്കാർ പോയാൽ അശുദ്ധമാകുകയും ഉദ്ധ്യോഗസ്ഥരും അവർക്ക് വേണ്ടപ്പെട്ടവരും പോയി അഴിഞ്ഞാടിയിൽ വിശുദ്ധമാകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന വല്ലാത്തൊരു സ്ഥലം, സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എന്ന് മാത്രം പറയരുത്. റക്കമെൻ്റ് വേണം പോലും ഇവിടെ ചെല്ലാൻ, ആരുടെ? സാധാരക്കാർക്ക് ഈ സ്ഥലങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളിലൂടെ കാണാൻ സാധിച്ചതിൽ നന്ദി

I've been there year 2014. Beautiful place. Muthikulam high value bio-diversity area. We didn't come across elephants though, but seen boars, buffaloes, black monkeys(very elusive and shy), normal monkeys, peacocks. Lots of peacocks. Peacock and normal monkeys will be found on the tree next to the bungalow early morning. They'll wake you up. There's a trench surrounding the bungalow. Blood sucking worms, if you stand on the grass still for over 5 seconds. Not the usual flat leech. Thin guys which turn U shaped to travel. We can walk across the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. A four feet or something high old broken wall on one side of the road and a pillar on the other side. Been to keralamedu, really wild. There's a forest picket station there. I think it's shola forest. Very windy. Also worms there, need to take a pack of salt. Huge centipedes and worms seen while climbing keralamedu. Great view on top. I think the dam was supposed to be inaugurated by important people twice or something. I think it's still not inaugrated. They passed away. You can see empty spaces where inaugration plaques were supposed to be there. There are other conflict issues there, better left unsaid. The cooks there made simple beans, payar thoran. Along with other great dishes. What I'm trying to say is that even the simplest dishes were very tasty. Maybe because it grows there. It's very relaxing to sit in front of that bungalow, the usual robust Rubco chairs found in govt places, sit there watch the waterfall in the distance seemingly falling in slow-motion. The mist filling the scene and passing away like an occasional passenger train. We stood for one or two days, there were no current no mobile network coverage, but it's good, the place is cold and comfortable and isolated from the fast paced life.
