It works much better with bigger amounts of the dough (2kg and more) doesn’t overheat, and develops gluten faster.

Is a double arm mixer better than a tilt head mixer like KitchenAid?

Probably, but may not be available outside of Europe and at least ten times the cost! I would simply sit before it and watch the show as the ingredients were added.
