Dude, you are doing a great job. Your videos are short and right to the point. Very good use of repeating a technique and slow-mo. And don't worry about covering basics. Remember, we all started out with zero knowledge on this at some point, and there are new folks looking to join all the time. Keep up the great work.

Never done CAS. I have done IDPA. I was surprised just how fast you are with single actions. That was fantastic. Obviously, I prefer my semi-auto for self-defense, but with practice and good technique, they're quite competitive.

Fantastic! This is what I needed. I was doing almost everything wrong! I was drawing weak side first, pushing it out to shooting position before switching it to my strong hand, cocking first shot with strong hand thumb and left thumb for other shots, etc. This should help tons in both time and accuracy.

Great video, and a review even after two years of competing I'm revisiting my moves. Now since my father made sure I could shoot rifles and handguns with either hand and either eye (because I'm right-handed and left-eye dominant), I shoot double strong side, starting with my left hand shooting my left Blackhawk and then switching to my right hand with my right Blackhawk. Although it seems straightforward, do you have any suggestions to improve my speed and performance? I will be trying your pull and into the chest style as a start. Thanks in advance for any help, and for the video. Harding "Colonel Douglass" Dies

Great video, I used a cross draw rig for years loved it then moved to the double strong for many years both have pros & cons of course, the two negatives would be pistol pistol rifle gun order stand and deliver and the other being shooting a long gun then moving to your weak side several yards for the pistol position, just curious how you personally deal with those two situations,

Excellent video! I’m a new shooter so this was very helpful. I’m shooting gunfighter, how about a video for that? Suggestion - don’t transition from slo-mo to full speed too quickly. I was trying to observe some final hand and finger positions and it was a bit hard. Definitely worth the time I spent watching your video. Excellent use of full speed to slow motion to full speed.

I love the video and two others of yours and am now a subscriber. I'm into my second year of CAS and have used both cross-draw and strong side methods. But since I was always taught to shoot equally well with both hands and both eyes (though I tend to be left-eye dominant while right-handed), whenever I shoot strong side, I shoot the left gun left-handed and the right gun right-handed - initially to save time in the gun transition (that I saw slowed down many shooters). I don't know if you've ever tried this but I would really like to hae your thoughts on this method.
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting 4 жыл бұрын
Most people are dominant with one hand. If you shoot left gun left handed as well as right gun right handed, what your doing sounds like a good way to me!

Great video Dead Eye! Thanks for taking the time to make them. I really love all the different camera angles and slow-motion so you can really see all the different views of what you are doing with your hands. What factors do you look at when deciding which pistol to draw first? Do you ever have a situation when you draw your strong side before your cross-draw?
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! With the double strong side, when I moved left to shoot pistols I always drew my left pistol first, same when moving right. With the crossdraw, I always draw cross first, I really can't remember the last time I didn't. It would have to come down to a gut feeling of stage flow during a split pistol stage to make me switch.
@TheOTJ
@TheOTJ 4 жыл бұрын
@@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting/videos I shoot double strong and which way I am moving usually dictates but I also factor in what gun is next and how much time I have between transitions (i.e. long run, short run, couple steps, S&D). For example, if my shotgun is after pistols and it is a short run or less, I will draw my left pistol first so that I can draw shotgun shells while moving to my shotgun. Do you think that it is an advantage or that I am overthinking it?
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not over thinking it. It really comes down to what flows naturally for you. It is though, always good to push yourself in different ways. In my mind I think, don't "worry" about grabbing the shotshells, be confident in grabbing them wether you have time to get to your shotgun or it's right in front of you.

Well done shooter! Excellent production. While I clearly understood your ep. 1 stndrd/slip dbl tap. It's hard to tell in this ep. 2 if you are shooting 5 or 6 rounds. Old school SS only carry 5 in the cylinder, right? May I suggest you advise the viewer how many rounds you are putting downrange. Thank you for your instruction, you have natural talent on several disciplines.

My shotgun belt was made by murphy gun leather, makes good holsters too. My crossdraw rig was made by Colt Faro. Like a lot of our sports leather makers I don't think he has a website. Mernickles probably a good place to start.

So much wrong with this video…don’t need the music video at the beginning. Have some issue with your holster being cut down…my range doesn’t allow them…so many goobers out there who have no business having a gun in their hand, 2A be damned. Also, you’re going to shoot your foot off one of these days…competition does not preclude you from using trigger discipline. Great “what not to do” video though.
