You can leave them in for as long as you desire. Well I myself look like a scrub most the time so it really doesn't matter to me, but just to be safe I would suggest that you wash your hair at least every 3-4 days for personal hygiene and such. Also for some people it can actually straighten your hair the day after you take out your braids, without washing it of course. It will be kinda fuzzy. Got myself a little puffy racoon tail.
