I bought it day one on Switch after being hyped from the reveal trailer and was not disappointed in the least. Growing up in the early 80s playing Double Dragon at the arcade room was such a treat especially seeing how the graphics were completely better than the NES version. I love how this Double Dragon game keeps all of the original music from the Arcade version from the 80s.

Does anyone remember the double dragon comic book from the 90s? In that book one brother used kicks most of the time while the other brother used punch type moves mostly. I believe thats why billy and Jimmy in this game both focus on either punches or kicks mostly.

I don't remember it but that could be a distinct possibility. Also it could just be another way to distinguish the brothers even further...similarly to how Ryu and Ken were changed up so much during the Alpha era.

i live by 1 rule for the DD games , the more DD3 content i see, the better, the NES version of DD3 is still, by far, one of the best games i ever played and still do, so seeing the gang back in DD GAIDEN was a major joy, even the dojo level is there, smashing.

DD3 NES gets a lot of criticism due to its difficulty. It's actually is a decent game and not really that hard once you figure out how to play it. DD3 arcade (and all based on it) is pretty bad though.

@@chriswheatley3146 i played it on release on the famicom, it was standard nes hard, nothing more, nothing less, me, my kid bro and my 2 younger cousins, all not even teens, would finish it without a problem, and yes, the arcade one, the port on the megadrive and the pc dos were so so so bad, shame, it had cool ideas, and the graphics were amazing, until they moved.

I got to play the DLC pretty hours after its release and defiinitely enjoyed it. Sonny is my favorite character so far! I just hope they act on the suggestions i emailed them not long ago (They responded and said they would forward them to the devs). For those curious it was 1) give different endings to unlockable characters and 2) a ''hard mode'' where you must play through every stages completely, with the bosses at max strength.

Still can’t get the final achievement “defeat royals in mission 4”. I’ve done this countless times on Xbox and still nothing. Anyway it’s a great game and they really could do with unlockable colour palettes for all characters. Or better yet allow players to customise the palettes themselves.

New characters are fine... game is still dumb easy though. It needs way, way more depth to the difficulty sliders and more options to em too. Ranzou with the glass cannon mod in survival is definitely a win condition. I got bored 20 levels deep and it didn't do anything more aggressive for the next 30 or so until i let myself get killed from the boredom.

Every Double Dragon is always mentioned but one game Rage of the Dragon the second Neo Geo Double Dragon game which is the best 1on1 fighting games with Jimmy and Billy in there but the gaming world don't consider it a true Double Dragon game and that's foul. Rage of the Dragon needs a comeback and it's the most expensive game in the sequels. And it's good having a roster of characters to pick from on Double Dragon gaiden but will we get any new stages and bosses over time 🤔 that will be nice

What does s double dragon game look like? They look like normal human characters that are not deformed 😂 The game is good. A lot more fun than I thought it would be. I don't know if I would say it's up there with streets of rage 4 or Shredders revenge though. I've been playing the heck out of double dragon gaiden and mayhem brawler as well.

Survival mode glitches and freezes once you get past about $30k... also the online coop is very laggy. Also, very few ppl online and hard to find a game. Still enjoy the free characters, but this is not a great execution... Co sidering online play should have obviously been available at launch. Comments are regarding Switch version.
