I'm confused. I thought you would have to multiple the NBV(3,072) by the 20% since it was the reducing balance method?

The net book value isn't the final amount. It's just the value of the asset after depreciation in each year. So the net book values are $4800, $3840 and the final value after the 3 years is $3072. If you look at the working next to the provision for depreciation account, you'll see he did actually multiply the NBV by the rate to get the depreciation. Hope this helps. Good luck.
