how come the double headed steamer was being pulled by the Deltic diesel lock? that didn't make sense and spoiled the full view

It saves on coal costs, water stops, and also the diesel ( class 37 ) was needed to help out with the tours

@@philclarke3203 don't need a water stop Carnforth to Crewe. Think the train is authorised for 90mph if the Growler is on the front, keeps it from getting in the way of other trains I suspect

@GrrMeister , my guess would be that the lovely class 37 diesel pulled the steam locos and coaches for positioning purposes to save on water and coal . Are you suggesting that steam locos are non polluting ? With regard to Leander’s black livery , I think it looks absolutely fine but have no doubt that in time it will get repainted, hopefully to your satisfaction .

@@kennethhume8628 *_Lovely Diesel_** you having a laugh, the only Lovely Diesel is my Mercedes B200 CDi AMG which I love to bits, especially when I see 74.3 MPG. 'Leander' was never ever Black in service, however I accept it's the **_'owners'_** prerogative to paint it whatever colour he wishes. Not Respectful in my view to the Preservation movement.*

@GrrMeister , you do own a really tasty car but you are suggesting a higher mpg than even the manufacturer’s suggest . In my experience cars don’t usually match their recommended mpg in real time driving so I do find it hard to believe your 74.3 figure . Just saying .
