Coming from the county of Cornwall, England. Actual town is called Hayle. I see the British B & W editions knocking around and they're always in poor condition. The interesting books are the reprints of Golden Age Horror books before we banned them as well. Only 3 EC books were issued, Tales From the Crypt 1 & 2 and an impossible to find Haunt of Fear 1. They collect different stories from all over the run.

Gotta love the Alan Class books!
@scottabraham12344 жыл бұрын
@@matthewroybal8081 The EC stuff and some other horror books was reprinted by the Arnold Book Company, and it would have been before the Act of Parliament that banned them, which I think was about 1956. Alan Class reprinted all the code stuff that came after and included a lot of Ditko and Kirby stuff. That's not something I've collected but you see it from time to time. I didn't realise the Class reprints had more art work on the covers than the USA originals, because they were wider books. The originals actually cut some of the art work off.

Footrot Flats is also popular in Australia & New Zealand. Starring the dog. It's quite good, wide format, comic strip stuff. Usually worth getting a copy of one of them - they are numbered and were released approximately yearly from the early 80s for 20 odd years. Set in New Zealand, but are quite readable, and friendly enough to an American audience. You guys should like Footrot Flats.

Watching this from Melbourne, Australia. I have a fair few Aussie reprints of American comics. Finding these in a decent grade is rare. Most of the time Aussie comics were re-printed in AU, NZ or in Singapore for the APAC market. Most reprints have a different cover Vs the story inside - compared to the original American printing. I am trying to collect more and more Aussie books - so they are documented and preserved. I'm enjoying seeing what comics around the world look like too! Good vid lads!

Hi Tom / Russ. Long time watcher & follower of your great channel. Excellent subject for todays show. I am across the pond, here in the UK. Thank you Tom for all your insight, knowledge & positivity about comics. Your passion & love is evident & your desire to share & embrace all things comic book is evident & infectious :) I just picked up a nice condition, likely a 6.5 or higher FN + British edition of Strange Tales #147 from 1966 & it is a 10d British print, which in that old money works out at around 15c US. A nice Key introducing Kaluu, Umar & Zom in the Dr. Strange: Master Of The Mystic Arts story 'From The Nameless Nowhere Comes Kaluu'. Good old Bronze Age Sixties Marvel Goodness :)

Columbus, Ohio by way of northeast Pennsylvania and Baltimore, Maryland. When I was a kid, my aunt and uncle gave me a German version of Star Wars. If I remember correctly, it was oversized - about the size of the Marvel graphic novels from the 80s. It used a Marvel cover (I also happened to have that issue) and as far as I remember, it was a translated version of that issue and maybe one or two other issues. Unfortunately, that German issue is long gone.

Cool episode. I've been looking for X-Men #1 Australian edition 1975 printed by Newton Comics. It's the classic X-Men #1 cover but wildly colored. Beast is dark brown and Magneto has a gold helmet, and the comic is combined with an Avengers comic. Hombres X #1 is also a comic I would love to have. And those Hungarian Star Wars covers would make nice posters 👍
