As usual, when i'm searching for a good vid, you guys have the best one! I love your vids, all very well done. I love that you're consistently using different coaches, instructors, etc, to make vids that they specialize in, instead of one person teaching everything.

Oh one last thing. What I like about this technique and the drill that goes along with it, is whether you use the lift double or not, by drilling it repeatedly, it teaches you the habit of shooting and immediately standing back up, regardless if you finish the takedown or not. This is a huge asset as so many fighter shoot, and stall out underneath their opponent and then carry the other guys weight for the rest of the round. In other words the drill builds solid fundamentals.

I hear that. I would suggest an outside leg trip off the double. That's one of my favorite low impact takedowns. As with anything, striking, submission, guard passes and in this case takedowns, the set up is key!

@racingmylife15 The let go is more of a drilling method. That is typically what you'd see while you specifically and repeated drill the double leg, vs. what it would look like when you integrate the takedown into the grappling game as a whole. When this is done, you can (but don't have to) continue to control the legs and finish in side cross.

Great demonstration. Currently heavy weight at highschool. Im 6'4 and i couldnt get double leg lift down. Also, thanks for the last move at the end of the video. Using his momentum to an advantage so you can get a takedown. Really helpful. Going to wreck people tomorrow.

Intéressante vidéo , assez instructive. Comme à l'entrainement, il faut essayer et essayer encore pour que le mouvement soit exact.

great video! is there any chance you could do the take down with the left leg forward so i can see what it looks like, i come from a boxing back ground and i always lead with my left leg forward. is this a good thing or bad thing i feel comfortable this way and it is heavily ingrained becauase i have boxed for years, if you could help me it would be great thank you for al the great videos

Brilliant tutorial. Great job both of you. Very solid techniques and I like the drill. Our gym is just getting set up in a new location and they will get some crash mats for us old folks to practice rasslin. Also. "rump". Now that's a real southern gentleman. Hahaha. Tip of the hat to ya!

What's so cool is that Chris understands the submission and the wrestling perspectives so he doesn't teach a lot of wrestling stuff that will get you caught in a sub grappling match.

That would be the one. There is a super sneaky and really cool Silat takedown to follow up with if they guy bends his knee and stone walls you on the outside leg trip. I've been trying to have Sifu Alex Chan show it on Damage Control MMA for years but we just can't seem to get our schedules in sync. One day though.

I'm sure you already no this but the first move u were showing you can do a blast double by putting your head on the inside and he will go backwards. I'm a wrestler so I don't know if he can counter that in a different style though.

LOL! MY FAVORITE! Like kosoto-gari from one knee, right? That's exactly my "go to" follow up if my drive double fades out and hasn't done the job. It's also the move I learned back in '97, the week I got to spend studying with Helio Gracie. Great minds think alike, right? Thanks so much!

I have difficulty finishing the double leg unless I have a wall or fence because my normal partner is a good 80+ lbs heavier than me and has a very low, hunched stance when we drill wrestling and it makes it very hard to finish on him because he sprawls exremely quickly due to his stance. Any tips fro wrestling a guy with a style like this?
@MrMZaccone
@MrMZaccone 11 жыл бұрын
That's great. I'm 52 and have a bad knee and reduced disk space in my lower back. I need to find another way. I'd have paired my techniques down to things that don't require strength if Helio Gracie hadn't done it for me already. A low driving double works well for me on opponents of nearly any size if I time it right, including my current training partner who is 300+. I'm not lifting that (or anything not in a squat rack) if I can avoid it.

Not necessarily. I taught this just last night and picked up a guy 200+ I'm 145. I picked up a guy 250 once but hurt my ankle doing it. Too much weight being down on the joint. Still, I got him up though.

In wrestling that's definitely the way to go. In a cage where someone can use your head for a punching bag or guillotine choke you, it's a risk.

yeah but with the double leg takedown, you can throw the guy over your shoulders and that will make him flip on his back with a result of him winded out...my friend performed it on me once.

Turn the corner, get the calves and not the hips, and pass the guard mid takedown. Wrestling 101. Gable gripping the butt can work but your hips should be like glue to him and it won't work on bigger guys.

keep your head center in his stomach instead of the classic way of putting it to his side. basically stick to "blast doubles"

If you get caught in a guillotine whilst doing the take down, immediately explode to side control.

That lift double is great on the mat or in the cage, your opponent is always the same size. On the street? With a size difference? You gotta think about something else.

good takeodwn, but bad for a street fight. you would destroy your knee by smashing it into the ground like that.

Cheap takedown no skill from a black belt specially because when u grab from the waist you don't prevent a sprawl when grab from there your legs are like ten times stronger then ur arms you need to chop at the kneews with your head outside his thigh as u chop u steer him to the side u should be facing the oposite side u shot inn from not just push him with your shoulder it would work agaisnt a cheap white belt but not a skilled black belt
