I had a double merle with serious health issue... the irresponsible breeder sold him as rare and he had serious health issues. I trained him and then couldn't afford his medical bills of 1000 a month because of diabetes incipitus. The dog was a great Dane and the amount of medication was more than 1000 a month. This breeder worked at the vet's office... go figure on that one. I gave my pup back to the breeder and they never gave me a penny back.

Bossman did some research it says online that there’s a 25% of a puppy coming out with 2 Merle genes and it can cause blind or deftness. It’s not always a guarantee but there’s a slim possibility a puppie will come out with an issue so it’s really a hit or miss with 1 pup out the litter I had a friend who had a slip up and both his Merle’s bred and the whole litter is fine. Perfectly fine.

It is safer, you can not get double merle pups, when one of their parents is not merle.
