Seen key walk out before myself. That engine had bad vibration and didn’t have a good dampener. Blocking the key is an often overlooked item. Thanks for pointing it out. My list of things to modify is growing.

I also feel more comfortable with double roller when I use a solid roller camshaft that has some spring pressure to it

Just recently, a quality single roller chain broke on an expensive race LS engine and caused major damage, I would not build a race LS without a quality double roller, its worth the additional effort to fit it.

You probably used oem GM one. Get a rollmaster billet set.

Thanks B & R Racing 🥝✔️ He brought me here. I grew up around Windsors and Clevelands. Timing gears for those are generally fiber vibration absorption dampers with single row chains. Similar issues with keyways.

On a reasonable street car a double is not necessary per se but I would never say a single is better. I use to always use double on LS engines until I saw very very reputable shops using a single so now I use single on the street just because it’s easier. Great video here! That little key and its location…. I have not seen that before.

Eye opening on double roller when you actually see where it lands on the snout. I'm guilty of sticking to the single rows but I've never really had any high HP cars. Excellent information

Everyone told me I didnt need one. Probably dont. But being a turbo car with 2step on the brake. I figured it would beat the valvetrain all to hell. I have 3/8 .080 pushrods too. They are pretty heavy and moderate spring rate. I just couldnt see why not to.

They put that key out of line so that with the balancer offset it blocks the rear key from coming out. Not the greatest ideal but I asked the crank manufacturer that question years ago when I had a crank like that. Thought it was a dumb ideal myself

only reason for the single roller on these is because you cant fit double roller and a melling high volume oil pump, also the rollermaster chain set (best) has a big boss for the bottom sprocket like a double roller
