So helpful - thank you! So true about the dogs having such distinct personalities. I train them separately unless we are working on wait your turn and when that is the case, I use simple exercises that they already know very well. Sit for example, because the one that has my 'attention' isn't actually the one being trained. And I know that they are both distracted on some level so I keep it very short and easy....All things learned from SpiritDog ❤🐕

This is what I have to work on. It is difficult as whichever dog is left in the house, barks and whines as he if she is being left out. I appreciate the reminder to work on one at a time however. 😊

@@willene9370 I had the same issue. What helped me - aside from following @spiritdogtraining (and I SWEAR I’m not a plant 🤣 ) was shifting my own mindset. The dog that I’m basing the duration of training on is the one that is left inside. I started thinking of it like the one that’s actually getting trained is the one that gets “left behind” And it took me months to finally get it through my head that 2 minutes is PLENTY training- less is sometimes better. I honestly didn’t believe that and I was also impatient thinking I could get them trained faster by working longer. That mistake cost me months, probably. I also had to shift my mindset around not feeling like a horrible dog mom if the dog left inside was whining. Both of us needed to SLOWLY increase our tolerance for our respective discomfort. I needed to be attentive to when she went from “sad” to triggered and out of her little mind with separation anxiety (before I learned that she would sometimes throw herself at the door so hard I thought she was going to knock it down
