This is a great DIY. This might be some silly questions but what is a stud and why is it necessary to find the stud behind the dry wall? Lastly, what's the name of the tool you use to find that and estimate of its cost?
@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the studs are the vertical boards behind the drywall. Usually 16 inches apart from the center of each board. You want to screw or nail into the studs to carry weight. If you only screw or nail into the drywall it can tear free. A stud finder will find the studs behind drywall. You can get one at a hardware store or home center for around $20. This video makes so much sense and seems fairly simple. I’m going to try this myself because I’m moving into an apartment and i need to maximize the closet space I have. Question though, are the wood planks necessary or does it depend on the wall?
@FIXITHomeImprovementChannel4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the wood on the side, screwed into the studs will hold the pole bracket so it can carry a lot of weight. Without the wood, if the brackets don't line up to a stud behind the drywall, they can sometimes pull out.
