I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

🍺Thanks Matt. I had a great day on the water today. 6lber and two 5lber large mouth, and two 2.25lb smallmouth. 20.5lbs…. On this particular body of water that would win 99.99% of the time. Non on a glide bait but my 5.3lb smallmouth a few months back was on a 6” S Waver.👍

Thank you sir for the tips. Another tip I will pass on is to put a small treble on the split ring of your Glide. Let that hang down and then use a large clip to attach to the main line tie. You have to be careful when in heavy cover anyway but I've found that it greatly increases the hookup ratio. When I was on the water a few days ago I caught a 5 lb Largemouth and probably a 2 lb spotted bass on a 5 inch bluegill glide. I pitched it into shaded area on top of a tree, and it got nailed as soon as it started moving!

I will admit it, I dont use them much but after watching this video I am going to give them a try again, it was just so hard to watch these big fish follow it to the boat and then just turn away, I always was able to work on my fowl language when this seemed to happen… a lot! In musky fishing the stop is called a death pause. Some musky guys don’t even figure 8 a glider. Just let it do a long death pause and flutter down at the side of the boat.

Matt: I've learned so much from your videos. I noticed that you used a left-hand retrieve baitcaster for this video. I'm guessing you did so to better demonstrate the retrieve for the camera because you fish using a right-hand retrieve. I'm right-handed but decided to use left-hand retrieve only for all my reels (baitcasters, spinning) to eliminate the extra step of swapping the rod from my dominant hand, following the cast, to my left hand before beginning the retrieve. It didn't take long to get used to it and I now find it awkward to use a right-hand retrieve. Are you aware of any right-handed fisherman on the pro-circuit that have made a similar switch to eliminate that extra step or am I the lone ranger?
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Well i consider mslef one. i use both right and left handed reels but their are not a ton of guys that do it. Most of the anglers i know that made the switch are shallow water flippers since its much more efficient to flip with the hand that holds the reel.
@Glock-1
@Glock-1 2 жыл бұрын
I’m right handed and use left handed reel’s because I started out as a kid using a spinning reel and it was left handed so it was natural for me

clearer water is generally better and IMO there is no one specific time. its more of a commitment thing. you take it out for a day knowing your not going to get a ton of bites but with the hope you catch a giant!

The lack of confidence in a glidebait keeps me from throwing it. Own a couple cheaper ones, just need to commit a day to using it. Is there an ideal weather condition or time of year where the chances of getting bit are increased?
@MattStefanFishing
@MattStefanFishing 2 жыл бұрын
IMO you should use it on a day when it seems nothing is working. thats what i started doing and id instantly start getting attention. that gave me a lot more confidence in the draw power of the bait.
