Beryl clutched up for NA. Honestly the best draw possible for NA to get far. Weibo is by far the weakest team besides NRG, BLG is easily the next weakest after NRG AND Weibo, and Gen G is the weaker 3-0 team. All of the stronger teams besides Gen G are on the bottoms side of the bracket. On the other hand KT is having the hardest run at worlds ever, facing the number 1 team at worlds who is also number 1 seed form LPL, and even if they win they have to face either T1 or LNG who are both 2 seeds from their region (LNG is technically 3rd seed but they were 2nd place in summer playoffs). My hopium is NRG vs KT finals being either NA’s first world title match and potential shot for world title, or KT completing the hardest run in worlds history

Only bad thing about the draw is that the bottom half is way stronger than top half because the 2 weakest teams are on the top half and against each other. Whoever wins from GENG BLG is almost certainly making finals. If Weibo and LNG were swapped it would be perfect, but it could have been a lot worse so I don’t mind it that much

I mean there is T1 too and they don't fare well against them. So, it's not guaranteed and KT is coming after a loss to LNG in bo3 too. So, even if they somehow beat JDG it wouldn't be just smooth sailing but I swear if KT wins worlds a single trophy isn't enough.

I've waited to give an opinion to see how it went, but now I can say I don't like this format. It's cool how the "pieces" fall in place depending on the score during the Swiss stage, but it's awkward that you end up with an even number of teams divided in an odd number of groups that need to fit in an even grid for the Knockout stage pairing. Also, too much randomness for my taste. It was a valid experiment, but I hope they go back to the usual format next year.
