This type of stuff makes me legitimately emotional. I followed the League esports scene from the very beginning and it really was like lightning in a bottle. Such a grassroots following that grew so quickly with so many passionate players and fans... it felt like it would last forever. Watching all these pros retire over the years, especially the ones that defined the scene, has been a really tough pill to swallow.

the lcs back then was literally just a bunch of gamers who got together, formed teams, and played the game for the sake of playing the game. it was grassroots, it was authentic, it was organic. nowadays, especially since franchising came about, everything is waaaay too corpo, where the primary concern is to sell merch and maximize profits. everything is way too polished, way too manufactured, and it all feels fake.

To be fair, there were a LOT of clips, but majority of them were solely based around LCS and there wasn't much for other regions. Professional LoL isn't just one region, and even if NA disappeared from the scene completely, the eSport itself wouldn't disappear.

I agree also I remember getting into in s2 and all the way up till 2019 in my opinion was great to watch then went down hill from there I still watch but not with that same passion that I had when I was like 14 but I do like what Mark has been doing for us the past year

I posted this on the original video... and I feel it's worth putting here. What... WHAT IS THIS AMAZING PRODUCTION!? Bro, it felt like I was watching a video from RIot... no, better, because in this video you acknowledged the mistakes and showed how we got through them. What a ride, what a video... wow. You've ignited my love for LCS again. Also, he's right, as fans... why aren't we held to the same standard. Maybe as fans we need to stop asking the pros to show up for worlds and maybe we the fans need to show up for them. They need us, they don't have the support they used to. Sponsorships be damned... they need our support.

Well this is the same feeling I have about gaming in general, not just esports. Gaming as a whole evolved from being nerdy niche for a relatively small group of people to a mainstream entertainmant platform. Once that happened, more and more big corporations entered the market to min-max the $$$. Gaming went from an community driven artform to a mass produced good in a blink of an eye and the magic died with it.
@NateO1235 ай бұрын
Not to mention the bad actors who view it as an opportunity to advance their social or political agenda. Too much of the gaming industry isn’t about the games anymore.

League back then was a labor of love and passion. That pure pursuit brought in crops of people who were eccentric. As the game gained mainstream attention and playerbase, the playerbase became more normie. Once the older eccentric players turned over, the newer upcoming normie players took their place.

The reason why the teams arent the same is because you soent alot more time with the teams, and North American teams were actually 100% North American. Plus the old stars are still streaming and taking attention from newer players (It not a bad thing it just a thing) and the lcs (until recently) rarely fielded new rising stars with high expectations on big teams

Idk why he didn't finish the video, maybe cause the onus was on him cause he came back to the LCS washed and realized 1. He doesnt have enough fan support or make enough money from LCS anymore so he streams 2.He is actually washed and even adcs like Yeon, Berserker and even FBI are better than him now. 3. He can't win anything cause he's a detriment to any team hes on cause the playstyle becomes too bot side focused on one dimensional.
