So many memories in this clip. LCS used to be so hype even more hype than EU LCS back then. Staying late just to be able to watch LCS from Europe used to be so normal and enjoyable nowadays I do not even watch the playoffs sometimes. LCS used to have so many big names/personalities and the quality of the gameplay was so much better, too.
@YourFavouriteDraugr7 ай бұрын
From EU, loved watching the first few years of LCS. How refreshing watching C9 was, how fun all the young squads were, how good the broadcast was still at that time, how insufferable TSM was. Franchising genuinely murdered what was exciting about LoL at the time, and didn't even fix the long term monetary issues that were the reasoning for introducing Franchising. That and the perpetual decline in adaptability, increase in nepotism, and the horrendous fascination NA has with seeing active competition as a negative, have made following it completely void of any joy.
@Erich6147 ай бұрын
I think it's turning around. The money coming in killed what made LCS great. It was organic because it felt like the start of the first legitimate professional video game league (at least for me, I know like Starcraft & CounterStrike had popular professional leagues way before). But it wasnt "professional" in the business sense. it was kinda janky, definitely compared to the product it is now, it was almost born out of the petty rivalry between Hotshot and Regi. And both of them actually being players as well as owners on the two most popular teams was a crazy dynamic that never happens in traditional sports. And players streaming because they could make more money, but in the wild west (Riot had to tell sneaky to stop saying "welcome to my butholle" fucking lol 😆)It had personality naturally because of its organic formation. Jack worked for TSM and was like oh wait I can just do this better, Regi is ??? and still making that $$$, and C9 was born. Now the money is gone & it was one of my favorite splits in a while. The rise of Yappa feels like the early days. I don't know why, it's litterally just shit talk I guess. But I feel something changing in the LCS as a whole.

@Xabeutt7 ай бұрын
im from eu but i always enjoyed lcs more than eu lcs/lec, i remember watching lcs 2015 summer finals and it was super hype, same goes for streamers and idk why is that, maybe because na content is more entertaining to me and/or exotic. been watching lcs since season 4, and as a person growing up on traditional sport aka football where teams hardly if ever rebrand, seeing league teams constantly rebrand is disgusting. i know its necessary and whatever, but seeing tsm and clg vanish from the scene is unbelievable for someone who grew up knowing that teams dont just disappear after some time. they basically created NA scene, made so many memorable moments and so on, and this is just in the past. clg was the oldest league organization. imagine fnatic or g2 suddenly stop existing. imagine t1 or edg stop existing. imagine real madrid or barcelona stop existing. idk why tsm and clg disbanding hasnt come up with greater fans outrage. for me there is no lcs without these teams. to me lcs died the moment tsm and clg went to sky. hell, even back in the day i was pissed off when LMQ ceased to exist after one good season. how come less successful dignitas is still around and legendary teams are no more? teams rebranding in league is a cancer for fans. imagine rooting for one team just to find out next season they dont exist anymore. how do you build a loyalty on that? there is also problem with teams not advancing/dropping each season like in football. instead of rebranding make the shitty bottom tiers teams drop to lower league and 2nd tier good teams advance to tier 1 league. this is a wishful thinkin but even after 10 years of watching league i still cant swallow this shitty system. without teams advancing from lower leagues we wouldnt have griffin who gave us players like chovy, lehends, tarzan, or damwon who gave us canyon, beryl and showmaker. on the ending note because i derailed from lcs topic: lcs probably the only major region to ever have a girl playing on stage. (correct me if im wrong) rip remilia

I actually started watching league in season 3, so season 3-4 kinda same. Im from EU aswell, I actually loved LCS everything that was going on was great, the storylines, narratives everything it was a joy, note the word "was". I disagree with you that since season 8 or season 9 so 2018 to 2019 for you that dont know how the seasons work, (and note that i also watched EU LCS and LCS but mostly LCS), but in that time and after that time EU had grown so much bigger and the production started becoming so much better it was literally hard to watch NA. Im not talking about their international success, we all know that EU clears that hard, im talking about the production and the "new" casters they decided to get and then the import show started its like... NA at that point wasnt dead region (yet), but it was slowly going in that direction. Like after rebranding to LEC they started making songs (some are bangers), fan content, and most importantly, they stayed true to their fans in EU, nothing worse that you having to cheer for a chinese import that doesnt even know how to speak english like...? Not original NA pro who is local and you can connect with. LEC also got Caedrel which was actually huge for the scene, while LCS got the woman that we dont speak of, (blood runs thru his veins) icant plz kill me xdd. Markz is trying his best, i hope that one day in the future LCS can become what they used to be but there is a long way to go. Fans are just not interested in NA its super sad to see. EUs tier 2 league LFL, like academy league, had more viewers than the whole LCS spring split combined.. There is a long way to go but lets keep our hopes up.
@Xabeutt7 ай бұрын
@@leevimasalin2301 i got back to watching lec and overall league events because of caedrel, but the first person to introduce me to costreams was rekkles during 2022 worlds. i also grown fond of lec pop quizes. the content got definitely better during last years, but in terms of rivalization seeing g2 ruling EU for years now isnt very satisfying for a viewer, especially for me since im fnatic fan since season 4. watching fnatic who have been kings of europe from season 1 to season 8, to get overthroned by ocelote organization (letting caps go was the nail in the coffin) is very sad and if fnatic doesnt make some fundamental changes im worried they will get evaporated just like tsm or clg. its been 6 years since their last won split and as of today they had been bested by na team in bo5 for the first time in history, which is a very sad sign. ya i remember the infamous female host (forgot the name) making fun of doublelift vs tsm drama on live stage. but scratch that, na had super content back in earlier seasons, i still sometimes come back to NA casters vs doom bots match, or tsm vs c9 urf match. i miss those events coz they were fun as hell. even later on when na hosted this match where tyler played with phreak, it was fun too. hell, even during older seasons worlds we had famous players who hadnt qualified for worlds to be on analyst desk which was fun to watch inbetween matches, nowadays when the games end i just do anything but watch those fillers. there is a lot of stuff from early days that nowadays league broadcats could learn from. some things were super fun for viewers and got abandoned for some reason. nowadays broadcast runners need to go back in time and look for fun aspects that older league with less budget did right and fans enjoyed it. i would start off with annual lcs legends showdown or some all stars event (idk why that got abandoned too, it was fun as well) as for the future of lcs and league esports in general im not sure if things can go better. viewership is gonna go down because playerbase is getting older and as for attracting younger people to league im not sure how things are going on in that front, considering there are games like valorant, not to mention other game studios, and league is known for both toxic community and the game itself being toxic. the whole rebranding every season thing isnt helpful for establishing loyal fanbases either i think.
@leevimasalin23017 ай бұрын
@@Xabeutt Omg you bring back so cool memories, also where are all the all stars events, "1v1 me bro" like we havent had a 1v1 king in the world since 2019 if im correct? Like i also said, early days of LCS was super great where is all that. And side note i feel you for the FNC G2 thing.
@Xabeutt7 ай бұрын
@@leevimasalin2301 from what ive read all stars diminished because of some post covid travel restrictions, viewership decline and pros wanting to have time off after exhausting season (there were instances of some players like rekkles giving up his spot for someone else) which is understandable but the event was fun and its sad that its no longer around. i mean league broadcasts and events have suffered over the years especially due to covid. worlds 2018 finals arena had capacity of 50k and last years finals held only 17k. and idk about others but i dont watch any league tournaments these days without costreams - i feel like the meta is too boring to watch, having the same exact champions every game isnt fun to watch for me without fun commentary of caedrel or other costreamers. ksante alone had like 70% presence in msi, not to mention ranged top laners, lane swaps and all that unfun bullshit. lpl this split is flirting with fearless draft which should make the games less bombarded by the same exact champions every game. this is 100% up to riot to make the meta non stale and therefor more enjoyable to watch. msi this year got WAY more interesting in quarter to semi finals when players started pulling off picks like karthus, nida. everyone barfs when they see lucian nami for the 2302930 time. remember back till season 5 or 6 we had IEM tournament in february. it was a chance for na teams like tsm to finally be successful on international stage. there wouldnt be xpeke backdoor without iem tournament. even faker legendary zed vs zed outplay came to life because lck back in the day had a rule that game 5 would be a blind pick. there was some kind of magic to older league where everything wasnt cooped into regional leagues, msi and worlds for all year long. all stars, rift rivals, iems, dream hacks. etc those things sadly wont come back.
