Maybe you should do it in private with a close friend that's how I learned to ride a motorcycle we went by the docks near Lake Michigan and he taught me how to ride step by step and it's easier than you think if you have good balance. If you're short it might be hard the average bike is 400 lbs if you are a short guy or a girl it might be hard I'm tall so it was easy.
@Aadibass8 жыл бұрын
Jesus Christ I think I'll get the nhang of it if I jsut do it some time, but it's going to be one of the thigns that takes the longest to learn I think. And most of it comes from me not owning a bike or riding at all outside of my riding-lessons. If I had a bike or someone to ride with I'd be so much more comfortable on the bike and that would make things so much easier. I have an idea of waht I need to do to be able to be really good at it, but I canæt practice it. The technical stuff like how to keep it in balance at the tightest turns my instructor will teach me, but the other things I feel like I could teach my self. Like better throttle and clutch-control (although that part is pretty good) and just in general know my own limits more and work on it. I'm really into driving and riding. Even the technical and nerdy aspect of it. Iæ'm thinking about just buying a bike and practice on the empty parking lot next to my house. Hopefully no one will bother and if I can do that a few times per week I'll get better and more comfortable. BUT taht would be illegal as I donæt know anyone with the bike license ):.
@reviewdykeusa83478 жыл бұрын
I was so afraid of the curves because that's were most falls happen. I learned in about a week the thing that took the longest is shifting but it's really simple once you get it and yeah I felt the same way more confident to learn in my own bike but I was a little excited to get on a bike and learn.

Little true story: right before I purchased a recent low mileage bike I asked the seller to go out to the bike and make a video while he put his hand on the exhaust. Then start the bike. He did and we ended up meeting a couple hours later to do the deal. I think TT was trying to explain. Hot bikes always start easy , cold bikes should start easy, but when they don't it is a sign something may be wrong.

If you can get the money I would definitely recommend buying a used one as your first. I bought a 2014 kawasaki ninja 300 abs brand new at a dealer and wiped it in 24 hrs. No real damage just cosmetic but still it WAS brand new. I personally don't really care about the cosmetic damage but I had it looked at for depper damage. Alot of new riders do drop thier bikes. I plan to get a 636 or a cbr600rr as my next and have been lookin at craigslist alot (im not going to pay my 300 off for another year) but this was a great video on used buying! Thanks TT!

another tip is to check gas tank with the pen light you brought with you,look for rust corrosion,check under seat,look at battery,and frame,and definitly get behind the bike and look and the swingarm,if its been in a major accident the swingarm will be bent on one side or both...but sportsbike are built really tough!! so its hard to damage frames/swingarms etc just from a parking lot drop

you can check the oil from the filler cap remove cap and do the smell test, use your finger in the cap to check for condensation and swab it on a piece of white paper. Usually good. Smelly oil is not good,Ask for any maintenance papers via mileage per manufactures recommendations per warranties to be valid, or any extended warrenties that may be transferrable for additional cost from the manufacture. If not any records per mileage will work,check your maintenance recommendations per vehicle.

I've had reasonable luck with CL so far. First bike was great; a CB919 with 19k miles. I've taken it all the way up to 60k without a single problem. Seller was very thorough with his description of the bike, and provided lengthy honest answers to any questions. Best bike I've ever owned! I'd say before you even look at the bike the seller's overall description and attitude is the main thing to look for; Look for someone that has an ad that is longer than 1 sentence and if they give you short quick half assed answers to your questions you probably don't want to buy the bike from them. That leads me to my second CL bike, a CRF230L dual purpose. Only 2k Miles. No descript, didn't provide me with proper answers yet I still bought the bike for whatever reason, even though I could tell the guy was a POS. Whatever; I got the bike home and threw my 919 plate on it for a fun little ride around and the bike dies after a few miles. Took like 30 seconds to get it running again and it would die after a mile.....luckily I was only a few miles from home so I just limped it back. Checked the oil and it turns out the carb leaked into the crankcase and mixed with the oil thus explaining why the bike didn't want to be ran. Hell I probably drained a gallon's worth of fluid out...and the engine is only supposed to hold 1.2 quarts! Cleaned everything up and so far so good. Took the bike from 2k to 14k miles with no problems thus far. I'm sure it takes a lot more than a little oil contamination to kill a good ol' Japanese single....I'm sure it'll keep on going despite the idiot that owned it before me!

Just a little pointers. depending on where you are you might want to check the bike history (if any money is owed on it). at least in QC, you can get screwed and seized if the previous owner doesn't pay the bank. In QC for 3$ you can check with RDPRM and be sure itS' clean.

my .00001cents, Some bikes (Kawas) have a slight tick noise at idle. If you rev the motor and tick gets louder with revs and helmet on, valve adjustment is needed or something else is wrong. go have it looked at… in this case don't purchase it unless you work on bikes. If you do, can get it a lot cheaper. Other than that, all advice was on point. Great vid.

Found a bike on eBay that was in Kentucky (I'm in California) , contacted the seller. Low miles, great price, already chromed out, customized and upgraded performance. Show room condition. After some conversations and emails back and forth, tons of high def up to date pictures. We agreed upon a contract. He signed and notarized it, mailed it to me. I signed and notarized it, kept the copy and sent back it him. Payments made by PayPal. Sent him a down payment, he held the bike until payed off.

Also...make certain you have constant pressure "papping" or "back pressure" from each exhaust pipe(s). Also a way to tell whether the bike has been "dogged" (rode hard) if the oil smells like fuel (gas) this is very BAD!! Also if it smells burnt, that is very bad! When you are checking the tires check for tiny dry-rot cracks too. Other than that everything on this video is on point. Well done.

with tires, dont just check the tread, feel the rubber and look at the numbers on the tires to see if theyre hard and how old they are, as well as tire pressure. And a big thing is before you test ride it take it through a complete heat cycle, i.e. let it warm up till the fan kicks on, make sure the temp drops. other than that you pretty much covered everything =]

I didnt hear you tell the audience to check the tires. I may have just missed it, but for any prospective buyers, bring a quarter with you. Good tread will usually reach the head of the washington on the quarter. Measure from the most worn part (usually the center, since that's where most riders spend their time). Also, there are little pieces of rubber in the tread that may eventually be flush. Those are...wow, as I type this, you mentioned the tires. If those rubber pieces are flush, that's a built-in indicator that says you need new tires. Im glad DoubleT covered it, but It doesnt hurt to have someone go more in-depth with how you test these things. Any other questions on what to look for, please feel free to ask. Ride safe all.

When I was checking it out everything checked out except the exhaust was already hot when I got there and I had the guy sit on it and the oil was at the high mark if not higher,should I have him empty it a little and see how it sounds for knocking or anything? There was small scuff marks on the engine and the handle but not on the clutch or anything? So I can't tell if it's been dropped and if it was it wasn't too bad. Thanks!

Its easier to detect problems if the engine starts from COLD. Any hard starting, carb problems, weak battery, starter worn out, ignition weakness will be more obvious than on a warmed up engine.

While you're on the topic of test rides, what's the chance of dropping the bike when you're test riding if you're new? In PA the MSF course equivalent requires that you bring your own bike or borrow one with written consent, so I won't have a chance to ride until I buy or am test riding a bike. I don't want to drop or crash someone else's bike. Any advice?

my advice-go to a dependable dealer for a used bike. a good dealer will talk to you in an effort to gauge your skill/experience level, find out what type of bike/riding you desire and put you on a suitable bike. if you feel that a dealer is trying to push a bike on you or force a 'quick sell', find another. if a dealer is unknowledgeable, doesn't give you enough attention or ignores you, find another. private owners are trying to get as much of their money-invested back as possible. dealerships want to stay in business, and thus, they want good reputations. all have a staff of technicians and will not buy a bike they cannot resale, BUT THAT IS NOT TO SAY THAT THERE ARE NO SHADY DEALERSHIPS or honest private owners. take your time, do your research, know what you're looking for and follow your instincts. good luck. ride safe.
