Before I start I just wanted to say pray for Tommy McGrew. Anyway, congratulations to Kendrick Lamar for an outstanding and memorable performance. Always good to see artists and singers with something important to say. It makes it all even better. Because while you are jamming to the music..you can also be learning something at the same time. Though I wish he would have gotten to the root of it and focused on the problems at hand which is not racism per say..but the whole fake concept of race itself and that flawed and uneducated way of thinking. We are all human and there are no distinct genetic boundaries for the groups commonly called races. If anyone wants to learn more of this truth abut how we are all just humans..then I will post a link to a science video from the science channel DNews underneath my comment.

Man, I wish people would not treat Africa as a monolith. There's over a thousand languages, each with its own culture, sub cultures and history man. Wanna be 'progressive' learn a country's name people! Some of the names are just where the country IS! Like Central Africa or my own South Africa. But I'm just nit picking, it's a massive pet peeve of mine. Anyway. Funny video though. Had a bast listening to it.

Kendrick is definantly talented, no question but it just sucks that conscious rappers get no recognition nowadays. Kendrick is as close as it gets but he also has the party and conformed tracks which keep him in the game. Really not trying to down his music at all but in terms of only conscious rappers, he really has nothing special and would be very low on a chart of the best lyrical, consious and flow but since he can put out songs that have radio appeal, that's the only reason anyone would even take notice to him. If rap music stuck to its roots and were still about who was the best MC, ( lyrics, flow and great overall song creating ability, I really don't think Kendrick would be known as one of the best.

It seems like Rock was always moving and in the process deconstructed itself time and time again. Birth of 50's rock..60s electric psychedelic..birth of metal..70s singer/songwriters..punk..80s new wave/ alternative..speed/thrash metal..L.A glam/ G n R..90s..Alternative/Grunge..Nu Metal..2000s indie/ N.Y.c indie (Strokes..Y.y.y..etc)...Rap sticks to trends and styles for way to long..maybe because it's a producer and not a band of musicians creating the musical landscape for the rappers to flow over..just a thought..ramble :/

Kanye West is still a genius he's just not great with his words. When you listen to him with zero bias, literally everything he says makes sense. The media just plays with his words... Like when he "said slavery was a choice" if you would've listened closely he meant that slavery was not only physical but it was mental too...
@robinvolpi

That's bullsheit. He was not referring to mental slavery. I watched it in real-time. He spun it that way afterwards
