This was better than the first. It focuses more on the characters while also upping the spectacle and energy. It's biggest problem is that the humor goes overboard at points and it undercuts the film. The first film suffered from moving a bit too fast and feels a little restrained, but this film opens up the floodgates and has a better flow. It's nonstop fun and energy colored with character moments that serve to enhance the piece. Enthusiastic Full Price for me.

Exactly like. I'll be the first to admit that this film might not have been as well-structured or as fresh as the first, but it was by far one of the most enjoyable moviegoing experiences I've had in a while, and was by no means a bad film. This might end up being a divisive one, cause I'm seeing a lot of scattered opinions on the web. I honestly enjoyed the hell out of it. I respect your guys opinions of course, but I can't say I'm so harsh on the film. Now, I am probably that guy you were talking about when you were giving your ratings, cause I adore the first one. The fact that this one was even trippier, zanier and got more into the character's stories as opposed to having a straight formula narrative like the first, I enjoyed all that. My problems would be the pacing/jumpy narrative and some tonal imbalance in the third act, but it never feels overstuffed. It was very Empire Strikes Back to me, which is a great thing. Enthusiastic Full Price for me, good vid though
@TheForceOfMusic1016 жыл бұрын
I think something the first GOTG movies doesn't get enough credit for is how serious and emotional a lot of the moments were. Sure, it was genuinely funny, of course. But there were so moments where the movie got real serious too. The Opening scene with Peter and his Mother, the truth about rocket and Drax, the circle scene, the Infinity Stone scene, the letter scene. These were all such amazing moments that balanced out the fun and comedic moments. As a result, the humour was organic. In this film, the first half was very much all comedy. It was very bright and colourful, and was just trying to be a very fun movie and some of the jokes were a little forced (not all of them).....until the "plot twist" with Star Lord and Ego kicked in. From that moment on, I got the movie I wanted. Something that was fun, but balanced it very well with serious themes and moments. I dare say that this move has one of the more sombre and quiet endings in any MCU film. So, I don't hate this movie. I wouldn't even say it's just okay. It was good at the start, but then kicked into high gear around the middle of the movie. So I would still give this a high matinee/low full price. If it was like that all the way through, I would have really loved this. For what it's worth. I got my money's worth.

I once read some pretty interesting information about Drax that I am not sure is true or not. In this information, they said that he use to be human and that his spirit was placed into the body we see here. It also said that he could fly and project blasts from his hands. Though it said this, I found it strange that neither the movie or the game has him with the ability of flight or the ability to project blasts from his hands.
@Invisiblekatana7 жыл бұрын
I believe he was depowered in the comics, but just recently showed off a feat of strength by punching straight through Thanos. I think the films are simply starting him in the early part of that where over time his powers will come into play, not too sure about the whole human element coming in though, having seen this one I think there were opportunities if they wanted to make it known by now.
@alexanderthegreat56497 жыл бұрын
Gabe Lee Yeah in comics they do a lot of reboots over the years and characters are changed, they are given a lot more powers or depowered. Like The Beyonder was originally one the most powerful characters in all the comics very few were over him like a handful then later he was dramatically altered and was made like basically a mutant or something. So yeah Drax could've had those abilities at one point.
@ItsMichaelReid7 жыл бұрын
Gabe Lee Here's the thing about Marvel's cosmic/space line of characters that weren't connected to Fantastic 4, Xmen and not necessarily Avengers which most of them were created in the late 60s to throughout the 70s, they for the most part were in creative limbo at Marvel. Like writers that felt who felt like ever writing about a character from that line usually decided on whether to withhold the continuity/stories that came before or to just write the character their own way from scratch. And the writers could get away with it because theses characters were Bargain Bin/ Z-list characters. Nobody (except a certain few writers) gave a crap about the continuity/consistency of the Space-Cosmic line, it wasn't until 2007-08 did Marvel actually gave some sort of actual structure and continuity to the Marvel cosmic-space line in which they revamped and rebooted multiple characters which includes Drax. Sorry for the long post but that's the gist
@litovietbui7 жыл бұрын
That's in the comics. The movies are a whole other thing and for good reason. Comics can get weird and overwhelming especially for the uninitiated with stories spanning decades and characters going through different iterations and written by different writers and such. The movies are rarely ever a direct adaptation. They usually pull certain elements from the comics as inspiration and take it in other directions and making it their own while staying true to some aspects of the source material in spirit.
@TheGrizzlo5036 жыл бұрын
The original comics version of Drax was a human turned into a being who's purpose was to destroy Thanos. The movie version is just an alien Kratos

I liked everything they did with Baby Groot BUT the opening credits. The visuals didn't match up to the music enough to make it anything more than indulgent. Everything else just uses him as a character. I've got no idea what Martin is referring to when he says they stop the movie for him.

This was a waste of my time. If I had been alone, I would've walked out of the theater. The comedy wae forced, Groot's part began to get old, there was not enough action. For this being an action movie, it had very little action. The story was flat and bland, the bit with Tazer face dragged on too damn much and Ego's planet was so damn boring.
