Sir ask ko lang po in designing beam cinoconsider din po ba yung earthquake load galing sa base shear ?

Yes if the structure is a multiple storey. We need to scale the amount shear force as a reaction compared to shear force received. We do response spectrum analysis. Cheers

Hi po Sir. Bakit po iba yung approach ng pag identify if doubly yung beam. Last example is using rho max by the strain 0.004 (max strain for tension) and dito po is using fs=fy balance condition. salamat po

Hi i think it was explained in the commentaries. Tensile strain of 0.004 is used since it was stated in the given under strength based condition where reinforcement are given. The use of fs=fy is the methodology of assumption to check where ductility is a constraint to identify whether under or over reinforced. This is done to both problems, kindly check ot again. The only difference is in the past the given os strength based condition for ductility while this problem is non-ductile.
