In this video I’m training for the Farnborough Half Marathon on 22nd January 2023. Follow my journey on the ups and downs as a runner, hopefully smashing my PB for the Half Marathon, running sub 88 minutes. Which will be great training going forward as I’m running the Brighton marathon in April for Breast Cancer Now. Plus my New Years Running Goals for 5k, 10k, Half Marathon & Marathon.

I've just started my 12 week training for Brighton Marathon. Not aiming for anything as quick as you but if I can get around 4hrs I'll be happy.

I am running Farnborough (22JAN), Bramley20 (12FEB), Surrey (12MAR) and Fleet (26MAR) as my my pre Brighton Marathon (02APR) training and may do Brighton Half (26FEB) too. My pace/targets are much slower than yours (2hr 5mins for half) and (4hrs 40m for Brighton) but I am finding it tough out there just doing 5-10km runs a couple of times a week so I am going to build it up and use Farnborough as a pacing race and just sit behind sub 2hr 10m pacers and see how I get on. Strange because my Park Runs have improved dramatically but my long distance stuff is very iffy. Good luck for Farnborough. Hopefully I will bump in to you on the day !

WOW best of luck Paul. I personally would drop the fleet half as it’s way to close to the Brighton Marathon
@PaulBeverley
@PaulBeverley Жыл бұрын
@@ThatRunningGuy I totally agree with you that it is too close to the big event but I live in Fleet and can walk to the start line and I was going to sit behind the 2hr 20m pacers and just practice my marathon pace and just practice everythng I am going to do on the big day. Dress rehersal and that! and then I am not going to run at all for the next six days

Happy New Year Chris. Good on you for taking the hard option and turning right. You deserve a good result for that type of commitment. Sub 1.28 here we come. Wish you all the best on the job hunt, and for future running. Thanks mate, I always come away from viewing your content all the better for doing so. Looking forward to the Brighton Marathon. With both you and Chris at Here We are Running entering the event, there's going to be some great coverage of training and the race. Fantastic! Cheers! Phil

Happy new year Chris. I have two challenges in April that may be a bit of a dilemma . Had entered SDW50 but then also got a ballot place for London 2 weeks later. Eek 😂

Mate, I know people who have waited over 10 years to get into London through the ballot.. I would be focusing on that and do the SDW the year after? The problem is monetary I guess!

I've always followed a training schedule that gives you a low weekly mileage every 4th week. Rest surely has to be as important as the running doesn't it?
@ThatRunningGuy
@ThatRunningGuy Жыл бұрын
In the past I’ve run 50 mile weeks and found the 4th week to be tough. But since reducing the mileage to 40 miles and only running 4 days a week, I haven’t experienced it. It’s all about find that happy balance. Of course if I was doing more miles I would reduce it after 3 weeks
