I gotta say that for a long time I didn’t really know who this cat was ( other than his time with Dio ) for a long time but getting into his stuff later on he became my absolute favorite living guitarist ! Doug is soooo amazing !!! It’s like if you made a baby with Randy Rhoads and Slash you would get Doug !!! 😆 the best thing about it is that he’s so humble about it ! I don’t even think he knows he’s as good as he is and he’s played for some of the biggest names in the industry! So much heart, so much feel !

As a fellow 80's guitar slinger I love how incredibly simple his licks are but yet he makes them sound so much more than what they are. It just goes to show simple can be better than complex, Doug does an incredible job doing this. I myself do much of this same style and it is just perfect.

I like how he can rip on a Les Paul. Not that his tone is drastically differently from players of comparable style, but just neat to use a Les Paul where something like an Ibanez may be more commonly used. Also he has a good balance of being able to "rip" and swing a melody. And of course it sounds awesome when paired with a Marshall.

Doug, just discovered you today. I think we are similar age; could relate to a lot of players you liked, have seen most that you mentioned. Have heard you before with Coverdale. I liked your story about you son. You make playing look fun. Bought a Marshall 2000 recently; love it but my ears are done. My path changed when a good friend told me about Jesus. I don't miss the life I had before. I have 4 sons and desire to leave a positive impact on them. Take care, enjoyed the video.
