The Pajero is absolutely awesome! Rode in one before and loved it! I'd like to add in that it's not really oil consumption in the sense that it 'burns' oil. It uses oil by design to lubricate the rotor housings so the seals on the rotors move along smoothly and don't take extreme wear. Even then, it doesn't guzzle oil. It's just something that needs to be checked from time to time and oil added in when needed. No big deal!

Dunno why, but this brought on a huge sense of nostalgia. Bear in mind that crazy fast cars were in the 5-6 sec 0-60 mph range at the time. So this car, which did the run in the high 7's, was a legitimately quick car. Great chemistry. And, I like the idea of bringing in three cars and letting Jay pick one to drive.

Two of my favorite car personalities, great to see Jay and Doug together.

It's pretty awesome that lots of car youtubers are friends and champion each other through a common automotive passion.

I have a 1987 RX-7 with manual steering. Love it. Such an effortless car to drive. It is trivial to keep it within inches of where I want it in the lane.
@andremartinez3000 Жыл бұрын
This rx-7 is going to go for more money just because Jay drove it. 😂 Gotta love Jay Leno. I watched him as a kid with my grandma at night. Now as an adult I'm rediscovering him for myself.

Doug is my fav, Jay is a close second!

Doug is a at best a sideshow to Jay. Doug's channel is suffering under it's own success and getting predictable and boring with all his templated stuff. He is becoming like the Verizon "can you hear me now?"-guy.
@wstlndiesel Жыл бұрын
@@mrtopcat2 I understand what you are saying, but I think we all know if we tuned in and got a different Doug each time it would really limit the appeal. He has to go with consistnecy with his reviews, and then venture our more like he has with Hoovie and his friend that has been on.

Doug almost seemed humbled in the presence of Jay and the two of them together feels so right. Yeah, we need more of this pairing for future car reviews.

For a big car guy that doesn't get things on an engineering level, watching two dudes that are absolute dorks about cars talk in depth about specific models is so cool. And seeing Doug learn new things is rad!

Mazda has on sale, not in the USA yet, the MX-30 rotary engine hybrid. The engine only spins a generator, used as a range extender. The rotary works more efficiently running at a constant speed, with greater longevity. In a hybrid the engine will only be a part time engine, so little used, as the batteries will mainly be charged via a charger.

The most enjoyable TV car program that I have ever watched. It's brilliant to see both you together. I see the bridge, the given car flag from old to new.
@chefmike4414 Жыл бұрын
I used to drive one and what I loved was the no power steering on a sports car. It had amazing road feel and you could feel the road through the steering wheel. You had to do the work yourself.

Jay, you should take the EVO Pajero for a spin... The MIVEC engne is a grunty V6. They put 2 turbos on the same engine for the GTO. A blast to drive are the EVO Paj's...

I'm just buying one from wales. What are the odds of it being on Leno, lol.. Anything you know of that fails? Like plastic fans exploding on 2000s bmws

@seanatsnow I know nothing about BMW's. If you want a flash car get a V8 Lexus. As for the Evo Paj's, keep up with services & drive it like you stole it, lol. They are very over engineered. Unless you do something stupid, no problems.

Legendary. Been in love with them ever since the equally awesome Jackie Chan movie Who Am I? introduced me to it and the sport of rally racing.
@Zerofightervi Жыл бұрын
The Pajero is actually a more successful rally vehicle than the Lancer Evo, Mitsubishi still holds the record for most Dakar wins. They were actually faster than the purpose built buggies that run in the Dakar which is very impressive for a vehicle in a production class.

My mom had the 1980 Rx7, which was the actual first generation. The one you have here is the second generation, which had subtle stylistic changes (wider trim running down the sides that actually looked best), new taillight array, nicer rear interior, etc.
@phillipt9820 Жыл бұрын
Wrong, this is still a first generation known as a series 3, in Japan, Australia and most of the world from 78-85 are all SA22C
@Queensizemusic Жыл бұрын
@@phillipt9820 no it’s not. The trim is wider and the taillights are different. My father was bummed when this one was released because he wished he had waited to buy this one for mom. This one looks far better than the first generation.
@phillipt9820 Жыл бұрын
@@Queensizemusicive had a 82 series 2 for 22 years which is as you describe, as i said they are all sa22c first gens in 81 the series 2 came out with updated rear, platic covered bumpers and a bunch of differences in different markets..regardless all same generation!
