To me, Doug Fieger has always been a great singer, song writer. He seems to have a great personality as well. Way to go Doug!

Doug was charming, kind, and incredibly intelligent. I will never forget that day. His passing, not long after this was recorded, was heartbreaking.

Love you guys! Have enjoyed your music for 20 something years. Am part of a struggling, but PAID, professional band here in Chicago, and enjoy your take in keeping it a fun experience as a fellow musician.

THE Greatest band ever to me. Nobody was as electrifying as the Knack. And Doug was one of the best front men to ever grace the stage.

I loved the Knack and am really enjoying rediscovering their back catalog thanks to this new technology we have (I was only familiar with their first 2 albums until recently), but to say they were the greatest band is beyond the pale, sorry. As a pop rock band, I'd put them just behind the Cars, which is nothing to be ashamed of. I consider them to be in my personal top 10 of the best bands of all time, which includes some truly legendary bands. That's not too shabby.

While I've always liked the Cars a lot (especially the pre- Heartbeat City era), I've known some people who thought they pretty much sucked. To each their own, eh?
@slide41802 жыл бұрын
@@duffbaker9554 Those others are probably thinking about their 80s stuff. Their first two records are not only great but very influential. The Cars had their own thing. Great band.

You're 33 according to your profile. I appreciate the fact that you have a fondness for retro rock. I'm 45, spent years in L.A. working for very famous bands, and have personal knowledge and expertise in that area, and I can tell you that The Knack were the tightest band ever to come out of L.A. I wasn't around for The Doors, and they were great, but to the trained ear, hearing them live in their heyday or well into the late 90's, no band I've heard was better. And Fieger? Master of Pop.

These guys are from Royal Oak, not LA! Yes, he is the brother of Geoffrey Feiger the Kevorkian lawyer and MI governor candidate. The Knack played music for ALL the right reasons, it was never about the fame and fortune, it was about having fun and rocking out. Original artist are few and far between and The Knack were one of those bands. He will be missed by legions of fans. My Sharona was one of the hottest hits of '79 and 80' and to this day whenever I hear the song it gets cranked up! RIP.

With a name like 'Prescott Niles', the bass player could have said he was from the UK and folks would have believed him. That is, provided anyone ever talked to the bass player....;)

So Doug was rich from "My Sharona" and he deserved it and all and now RIP he is passed away. So, maybe he lived better while he was here and hopefully he left his family set, but when it comes down to it, nobody is much better off based on fame and fortune. Most of the things we are taught to value are just different flavors of vanity.

I'm with you on this one. The Knack were presented a s very skilled studio-level musicians (which they were) from L.A. when they made their national debut back in '79. But let's celebrate their splendid music and authentic presentation today. Another rock legend has joined the angel band. Rest easy and rock on, Doug.

@Xirobebito You think the doors organist was 'just there for the ride'. He only composed the intro for 'Light My Fire' and the organ was always a unique aspect of the Doors sound.

Put 100 people in a room. Take a survey as to who was the best (tightest, most rocking) band to ever come out of L.A. 100 people would reply with robotic FM AOR breath, "Van Halen", "The Doors", "Guns N' Roses"... 100 people would be wrong. For those of us who know, Thanks, Doug.
@Xirobebito15 жыл бұрын
As to comparing The Knack to VH or the Doors..thats comparing apples to oranges. I saw VH back in the day & as much as I love them to death...they didn't sound great live. Dave would forget the words. The Knack were very tight live. Sound just like the album. They took alot of time to get that way. The Doors could also be called the Jim Morrison band. He was the heart & soul. IMO the other guys were there for the ride. Don't get me wrong..I love the Doors.

Um no offense but I'm quite familiar where Doug is from and The Knack were an L.A. band if ever there was one. That he was born in Michigan and spent his youth there means very little. When I think of L.A. rock outfits, The Knack is exactly that.

Bruce Gary the original Knack drummer is dead . Doug F and him did NOT get along !
@imogenimeson6644 жыл бұрын
Seriously?WOW...because I love Bruce Gary's drumming to this day and the real back bone to My Sharona, any softer, less driving beat might not of made the song how it was.Have read that he was upset over not getting any real credit for it .Bless Bruce would loved to have known him.
@slide41802 жыл бұрын
I’ve heard that too. It’s too bad. Gary seemed like a good guy. I think Doug in the Knack days got a little crazy and headstrong with the fame. But who knows what happens behind closed doors.
