@@jasonjanisewski78 Antonio Gates is 7th ALL TIME in Career receiving TDs. He also has the MOST TE TDs in NFL history (yes more than Tony Gonzalez). Gates isn’t just amongst the best to ever play his position, he’s literally one of the greatest general receivers of all time. He didn’t play college football, worked his ass off to make it as an undrafted free agent with barely any football knowledge, picked up a playbook and became a Top 5 All Time Tight End and Top 40-50ish all time player in the history of the sport. Yes Hester deserves to get in, we all get it, but at the end of the day for being the greatest return man of all time he was also mid at everything else. He should be in the Hall of Fame, just definitely not before Antonio Gates. Do you know how many great players have waited 10-20+ years to get in? Special Teams is important, but it’s a very small portion of the game compared to everything else

@@atumless9696 Where your argument breaks down is that the Hall of Fame is supposed to be the Best at Every Position. The Goat Punt Returner is more deserving than even the 5th Greatest WR. The Goat Kicker and Goat Long Snapper are more deserving than the 5th Greatest WR. If you want to factor in Positional Impact, then that does not help the Gates argument either since tons of QBs who are not in would then move ahead of Gates. For example, Tony Romo is not deserving of the HOF but if you want to factor in positional impact, Romo had a much bigger impact on his team's fortunes did than did Gates since QB is so much more important. Heck, KC would agree to sit Kelce in almost every game they played if the other team would agree to sit out their QB. They would have sat Kelce in a heartbeat vs SF if it meant they could play against Darnold.

I agree with Dion Sanders' HOF point of view in that a player needs to have left an undeniable impact. Among this year's candidates, Devin Hester should've been the only selection.

@@992porter Although the TE tier is argumentative, HOF caliber isn't. Gronk, Kelcie, Sharpe, Gonzalez, Ozzie Newsome, all are guys who have no one to be compared to. Gates had an amazing career but let's not forget, with Phil Rivers, Tomlinson, and an amazing defense, he didn't push the Chargers over the edge. *(That's what HOF players do).* Hester was a special team guy, who single handedly carried the entire city of Chicago (Even more impactful than Brian Urlacher, and that's just facts).

HOF would have like 50-100 people in it at that point, you'd barely need to induct anybody. That's never how the HoF has worked. It's 1 way you get in the HoF tho, the reason Dungy is a HoF coach, but no way that should be the only people in it.

@@PokepoppinTV Gates was an outstanding TE, but his stats were generated from the opposing team's defensive focus on both LaDainian Tomlinson, and Phil Rivers. I respect Gates, but he only delivered two 1,000 yard seasons and scored double digit TD's 4 times. When bringing up the term revolutionary, I look at Gonzalez, Kelcie and Sharpe's impact on football.
