So i went to Steel City in 93. Reynard won as a rookie that year, but Doug and Emig fought it out for the championship. I talked to Doug, who was my absolute idol about getting a jersey. He said hey, i will give you one if you drive my wife to the gate in my rental car. I said of course, i was like 17 years old. He says i have to catch a flight right away, so if you can get her to the gate you can have my jersey. I did, and he always treated me like a true friend, i still have the jersey. Doug Henry is a legend no doubt. This pocast was super long, but so worth hearing. You guys are great! Thanks.

One of my favorite supercross races ever is the 1997 Seattle SX. To me, that was a very exciting race. Lusk led early but cross-rutted. Larry Ward took over and Henry came from behind and passed him. Later on Jeremy charged into second place. That was an awesome race.

McGrath, Emig and Henry were the three guys for me during the mid to late 90's. I remember seeing Henry on the DGY Yamaha in '92. He almost won Seattle I think until he went to far out in a right hand sweeper and his bike sucked up a lot of banners. Swink ended up winning that race.

I love Doug. He was a great rider, always positive, and seems like a nice guy, but I'm not surprised that he's partially paralyzed. He's cut from the same mold as Magoo Chandler, Guy Cooper and Travis Pastrana. He was always on the edge, and could be dangerous to be close to on the track. I saw that works YZ400F in action at Glen Helen in '97, and really was a thing of beauty to see up close. I'd never seen a full works bike before. I wish him the best!

I was a MX racer, lost an arm and fucked up my neck in a off track incident in 1977. I started riding again a few years ago and I'm having a blast. I resurrected a 1990 Suzuki DR 250 and use it to run the gravel roads and trails of North Central Montana. I'm a Doug Henry fan. Pre Internet and reading magazines in study hall we would read about the wreck but not the wheel chair results. I'm happy to see life went on for others as it did for me. Good job Whiskey Throttle. A sad toast of respect for Danny Chandler and my old buddy Rocky. WFO Boys.

Doug Henry is like the Steve Irwin of Motocross.I remember first knowing anything of Doug Henry at the Millville national. I’m just at the part of the jump at Buds and you guys talking about dreams, dam I had those too and still do years later, wtf is that about.. I was also never afraid to jump or go big, broke my wrists, leg, back, neck ribs in many crashes over the years, before my 30s no jump ever scared me, I used to do no feet no hands cross ups, whips before they were called that etc, it’s not a fear thing I think, I always thought it was just me that had those dreams, glad I am not alone and first time ever heard another rider talk about it. Respect to Doug Henry on that, the outcome may not have been what he wanted but this always cemented you him to me as a legend, you know everyone of the top guys has that one thing they did you’ll never ever forget, this was Doug’s to me, interesting story he tells. awesome guys.

The new treatment of early onset treatment is critical, now patients are started with Cryotherapy both externally and internally with cooled IV fluids that helps cool the body down, part of that process also involves the use of steroids which also help reduce the inflammation process. As you mentioned in many cases of spinal cord trauma the inflammation or swelling of the spinal cord and surrounding tissue results in permanent neurological loses. PS you guys met My Brother Spencer at MX de nations @ Red Bud, and you have a very interesting story of what happened The Red Bud on location of the Whiskey Throttle Show, after the show of exploring Lot B, and trying to work and Ride the next day.

I think this is the second time i have watched/listened to Doug's story. One of my all time favorite riders and a complete legened. Definitely the positive. Shame there is/was a massive negative. I really feel Grant is a massive downer on this interview. Doug's asked a question and Grant answers for him or tells something about his life. So bad. Then hearing Doug explaining about the conditions at a track one event and Grant starts adding his bit with specifics of these conditions and then he ststes, "I wasnt even there". Then the call at the TLD break by Grant about "arr, i need to stretch my back". Fark GL, shocking call. Si, Christchurch, NZ.
