If I was going to take a government post, I'd likely get a copy of the Constitution to swear on, because THAT is the supreme law of the land and it explicitly states (in the ORIGINAL, pre-Bill of Rights!) that no religious test shall ever be required for someone to take office. Christianity is the dominant religion of its population, but the United States is an explicitly non-theocratic country that recognizes no state religion. Of course you don't have to swear upon a bible. Forcing you to do that would be a violation of the separation of church and state. Most people do choose to swear upon it as it is a readily held up example of devotion and oaths sworn upon it are seen as being more meaningful, as they are sworn before and to God himself. A Muslim senator would swear the same oath, with the same meaning upon a Quran, just as a secular senator may swear upon the constitution or bill of rights. But it was hilarious watching Crockett suddenly start to realise that the one piece of evidence he thought was incontrovertible was in fact nothing but conservative self delusion fantasy.
