I don't know if Doug himself would say he's mastered this, but I sure think he has. His knowledge and ability is on a whole other level. Every move is like a dance, and he knows all the steps. Its an incredible art and I could watch him all day, it's fascinating and respectable. In his own way, he's like a modern day Chuck Norris.

@DarukaEon8 жыл бұрын
+Nicole Slater In the Philippines, they had to disguise the martial art within some of their dances as well as their everyday chores back in the day in order to keep training in plain sight when they were invaded by the Spanish. When the time was right, they used it to drive them out. There's actually a video somewhere on KZbin where Doug was demonstrating a dance that was translated from empty hand, to a scarf, then finally on a "test dummy". If I find it, I'll post it here. It definitely is worth watching. :)

Mr marcaida knows his art well. knife self defense is very specific art. If executed correctly by a skilled artist ( only in a self defense extreme case ) it is practically impossible for your attacker to gain the upper hand. unless they have a gun and are far away and even then I'm sure there is a counter for that. good to see Mr mercada is a professional and not just Hollywood . Wish you much success.

Doug Marcaida has a video exactly about that called "ineffective Filipino martial arts training". In that respect FMA is very diverse: some teachers actually fought in death matches, some groups spar (sometimes full contact) and some groups don't.

Its a flow demo a real fight in this way is over in the first 3 shots or less the blade gives the mind a sence of urgency as in if I do this I'm in an out over fast or I will get hurt an 2 people of this lvl of understanding will never fight for real because training will teach you that YOU WILL get cut so its better to settle it another way if someone is to attack or attempt to assault you an you are sound in this art just watch the 1st 3 strikes of any of those flows with out the weapons an that will do with the weapons that will be fatal

Whats LEO's/city are allowed to carry/use a Karambit?? :) Such a brutal lethal weapon. I could see all the legal problems after the officer uses it on a criminal. Who dies from the lethal gauging. Family of criminal sues police department for excessive extreme force. No doubt the Karambit is very effective. But it's a weapon not legal in most city to own/carry/use. So to study it...ummm..practice it....WHY? How is it they're even allowed to have the Karambit to practice??? :) Kali sticks...sure. Something else...while watching this video is "fun"...posting it on KZbin is irresponsible and DANGEROUS. Kids will see this...go to the kitchen and grab some steak knives to try to copy. Neighbour boy gets stabbed in t he face or slashed...etc. :P

Not legal in most cities...depending on the country you live in. This type of of knife would be carried by law enforcement as an emergency backup defense weapon. So the attacker is so close you couldn't get the gun up and aimed to fire. There are other knives carried for the same reason. Ka-bar makes another knife for this purpose. different type of knife, but for law enforcement, probably the same idea when thinking of why it might be needed.

@fcastle So what you're saying is, if you kill someone in self defense with a gun its ok, but cutting someone to render them non lethal to you and take control of the situation instead of killing them is worse? You are not going to prison for using this knife in a self defense situation. Im sure you would change your story real quick if someone with this knife saves your life
@xamislimelight77697 жыл бұрын
No, you won't. Only if you just randomly started slashing and stabbing people, then yes. However, if you are defending your life, you can use any means necessary (with the exception of black market guns obviously). A second note: You're fear of anything that can be called a weapon says way more about you than these "criminals" who are apparently running around with karambit blades where you live. I'm assuming you never had to actually defend yourself or someone else? What a narrow minded comment haha
