Doug Meets Stella the Puppy: A Birthday Present

On Doug's 46th birthday he was given a wood box containing a dog collar, tag with his phone number and a picture of his wife and step-daughter holding a 3 week old golden retriever... which leads to his step-son delivering the best birthday present of Doug's life.

It is with a heavy heart we had our beautiful Stella pass away today. She brought great joy to Doug right to her final day. He has always said that Stella was the best birthday present he has ever received. He loved her so incredibly much and she loved him even more in return. She will be missed.

For those wondering about how Stella could have passed away so young, if you read further down in the comments you will see another post from the video uploader, "tvanlieshout" indicating that Stella was now over 10 years old and posted the comment just 1 month prior to posting about Stella passing away. So while the video was uploaded in February 2010, it appears it was shot closer to Spring 2004 meaning that Stella lived a nice long happy life before she passed.

Unfortunately, 10 years old is still on the short side for Golden Retrievers. While Stella did, in fact, live a nice, happy life, it was not particularly long; on the other hand, it wasn't particularly short either. Either way, sad to hear that Stella passed away. RIP Stella.

This has to be the best puppy surprise video. I love how his wife was 'playing along'. 'Isn't she cool? Oh she's gorgeous! Oh she needs to be held!' Like she's never seen her before. HAHAHA And Doug is in complete adorable shock. He just holds her and bends his head down so Stella can whisper in his ear. Then the Happy Birthday snaps him out of it. :) Pure joy. So happy and sad in the same evening. My friend lost their Golden Retriever several years back and this Christmas surprised the dad with a new puppy Kilo. I was doubly sad when they lost their first dog, Miles, as we shared the same birthday. Stella was beautiful and have no doubt she brought great joy to your lives.
