After three guesses I had two correct letters, still out of position, and nine letters eliminated from further consideration. For guess 4 I wanted to try HONEY or MONEY, going with the former. SLATE, CURIO, NYMPH, HONEY. I didn't know where to go next with only a yellow "e" tile from my start word and a yellow "o" tile from my 2nd word. I used an eval word on my 3rd word which helped me with a solve by giving me 3 yellow tiles for a total of 5 letters. Took me a while to line the letters up correctly without any green tile but I got there.

I probably play a little too conservatively at times, but I would rather take an extra guess to solve it instead of making a hasty guess that causes me to fail the puzzle at the end. I'm convinced that the day my streak ends that I'll look back at a guess on my third or fourth turn and recognize that it wasn't an objectively wise choice. Anyway, after STARE and DOILY, I had a strong suspicion that the solution was what it ended up being. But I didn't want to waste letters on slots I had already solved. So I went for a word with five new letters which also tested my suspicion letters H and N. So CHUNK led me to what I suspected. HONEY to save par. No regrets.

That was a honey of a solve, Doug. After “stare” and “doily”, I had E-O-Y. Money was already used, so I thought of covey, gooey, homey, honey, jokey, mopey and pokey. I thought I’d try honey first then maybe an eval. But that did it. So a “3” for me today. starE- dOilY- HONEY
