Doug Polk and Bill Perkins played a few amazing hands versus each other during a $200/$400 stream on Poker At The Lodge. In this first hand, Doug was put to the test vs. a river bet from Perkins. In order to make his decision, he flipped a coin!

The Lodge Card Club is a members-only social club in Round Rock, Texas (just north of Austin). With 24/7 cash games and 2+ tournaments per day, The Lodge is THE place to play poker in central Texas. The Lodge Live is streamed every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 3PM CT.
You never know what you might see on The Lodge Live stream. You might see Pocket Aces vs Pocket Kings. You may see the nut straight lose to a full house after the board pairs on the river. There's a good chance you will see loads of straddles (and double straddles, and triple straddles). Players go all-in blind or play poker hands after looking at just one card. That's just what poker is like in Texas!
The stream regularly features Lodge owners Brad Owen, Andrew Neeme, and Doug Polk. Players like Rampage, Mariano, and Igor Kurganov has also graced The Lodge Live felt. And who knows? One day The Lodge may even host players like Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, or similarly huge poker names.

There are already 10+ reasons why she cheated. Her playing on stream just exposes it more.Someone that’s afraid of the $$ is gonna call Jack high in a game 10x she’s comfortable in? She’s afraid to call 2k in MANY spots. Not just this 1 100% inside job with Brian,Ryan and Nick!If Ryan and Nick weren’t in on it then they are not very smart.I’d bet about every dollar I have on it.I didn’t dig deep into anything but it’s not hard to put 2+2 together.

@@EmilyP17 Interesting. I have a few questions for you and those who are on your side of this. Multiple investigations were conducted clearing her of any wrongdoing, how do account for that? If she cheated, she certainly couldnt have done it alone, so you're inferring a conspiracy took place. Who else was involved? Why are so many players so comfortable risking hundreds of thousands of dollars with a cheater? Why are so many streams, including the one she supposedly cheated on still willing to have her, in favor of a much better and favorable Garrett? Most importantly, why would she and her co conspirators choose such a ridiculous spot to cheat (J high) for such a large amount of money, live, against such a popular player, that would undoubtedly draw a massive amount of attention from the poker community, just to ultimately give the money back?

Flipping a coin in a spot where you feel GTO is 50% call 50% fold is the best way to remain impartial in live poker. Doug does this often so that his emotions don't cause him to do one more than the other in very close spots. While it seems like all fun and games, it's actually a mathematical strategy. Also, lots of pros use a random number generator to accomplish this online. For example, if they feel they should call 30% of the time on a river bet- they do a random number from 1-100... 1-30 = call 31-100=fold. This keeps them from making emotional decisions, which is especially important when they are playing many tables at once.

@@MichaelJohnson-ig7fr It is because, even though variance plays a role, elite tournaments players mitigate its effects. Thus, finishing consistently high in the WSOP shows that you are able to sustain masterful play over an extended period of time while avoiding pitfalls. That's true poker skill, not getting into hands with mediocre hole cards and bluffing the other guy out of a huge pot through a certain pattern of betting. That's why I say that navigating tournaments requires a lot more skill and discipline than does playing cash games, which really only requires a sizeable bankroll.
