I mean, whenever I sat at the 10-20 game at my local card club regular people would sit w/10-20k sometimes... I usually sat w/1 or 2k but some people could afford to play super-deep..

Every western movie I saw as a kid played 5-card stud. When we were kids we played 5-card stud. When NLH became popular on TV, I didn't recognize that as poker.

We grew up playing everything from 5-card stud to Manila, a lot of 7-card stud, 5 card draw, a little hold em, but my dad always said 5-card stud was true poker, as you’ve only got one hole card and nowhere to hide with 80% of your hand face up on the table. I can see how hold em kicked off the poker boom, most other forms of poker are pretty fast and a bit boring to play, let alone watch.

@@briansymmes7917 Hold 'em is super easy to understand as well. It plays very well for TV. That said, I'd love to see a stud game live.
