In my opinion Ritter has always made the definitive version of the Griptilian. This iteration of the RSK seems to be no exception. Kudos to Hogue for picking up on this stellar design. I'll be purchasing one soon.

Thanks Bryan. This is the most excited I've been, in a very long time! For a new/old knife to come out. Just as Benchmade was announcing (late 2016), that it will no longer produce Doug's RSK Mk1 knife. It was widely considered, as one of the very best EDC knives in the World. For something like that to be canceled, sure is a head-scratcher, and a tragedy. I'm sure glad to see it come back.

Thanks for the review, you convinced me. It didn't take much. I have considered a Hogue, and always liked the Ritter blade profile. I have one on preorder (2 birds, one knife). It's Christmas time for me!

Those don't eat mes are moisture absorbers I threw a couple in my tool box to give my tools a bit of rust protection. And I keep a couple in my knife box especially since I got a lot of D2. Never had any rust spots ever. And my buddy used to keep a bunch behind his back seat by the rear windshield and it ended up NEVER fogging up on him

The 'extra' handle length in this design should be a godsend if/when they release the mini - always felt the Benchmade mini grip had an awkwardly small handle.

Like that knife. Tried to buy it from LTK but he told me he had promised it to you. I like what Mr. Ritter does and wanted to help as I have heard it is basically from sales of this knife that gives him the ability to do what he does for our community. I know it has a good home and will just have to wait on the next release.

Nice looking knife. I really like that milling pattern..looks like a star shining or something. Hogue does great work, so a good choice by Doug Ritter, and made in the US is a definite plus! That high grind looks like it will be a better slicer than the Griptillian. Thanks for another great review!

I am so glad Hogue picked up the Doug Ritter MK1. All that he has done with Knife Rights is so important to the knife community. I think Hogue did a great job. I wish Hogue would get more love from the knife community. Knife Rights is our communities NRA. The nanny states just keep taking away more of our rights. Again, if someone misuses a gun or knife, hold the person accountable, not the tool.

Good looking knife.. Nice design and the price isn't outrageous..I handled several Hogues in a shop when they first came out..The early ones were well made but i wasn't crazy about them.. However, I do have the EX-03...Unless things changed, nobody does a factory edge better then Hogue.. Axis locks are tough to center.. You might try loosening the body/pivot screws..On some knives, if the handle of the knife can be torqued a little it may center the blade.. There's a couple other tricks too without disassembly but not sure they would work with an axis lock...

I’ve owned dozens of Grips & Mini Grips - still have about a dozen. Really excited about this one (my pre-order has been in since the moment I heard about it). I’m sure the “anti-clone” crowd will be chiming in soon if they haven’t already. I don’t care - and it’s not a damned clone. Haven’t heard about Benchmade planning to sue so why whine about it if they’re not? What Doug Ritter has quietly & tirelessly been doing for knife owners should be supported. The centering issue typically corrects to some degree quite easily on any Grip I’ve owned & this’ll be no different. Haven’t had a non-centered blade of any brand at any price worth moaning about. If it’s annoying to anyone who gets one, see if it can be exchanged.

DAMMIT. I have my mini G10 with the sheepsfoot blade (spydie hole) and have been looking for a full size. Now I have to decide between the DR with thumb studs (I hate thumb studs-something sticking out of a blade at right angles just ain't right) and the BM with my beloved spidie hole. It doesn't hurt that the DR is a few bucks cheaper, too.
@keithmoore12026 жыл бұрын
Love your reviews, Brian. However, I do have one nit to pick. When you are doing size comparisons it would be helpful to the viewer if you lined them up at the same point. You have the graph background, then don't really use it. Line the tips up on the same graph line or line the end of the knife up on the same graph line. That way it would be easier for us to see how they compare in size.

Hey Slicey Dicey. Hows the texturing that's under the pocket clip on this new RSK MK1-G2? Is that texturing rough enough to the point where it going to sandpaper/damage your pants pocket, like the annoying rough texturing that's under the pocket clip on the original plastic Griptilian handle scales?
@SteveKluver6 жыл бұрын
It's perfect, Thomas. Slips nicely into the pocket. That was an early concern of mine, as well.
@ThomasConnolly6 жыл бұрын
Really, thank God!!! I personally could not stand the texturing that was under the pocket clip on the original Griptilian plastic scales!!!
@SteveKluver6 жыл бұрын
Yes @@ThomasConnolly. I carried it all day today, and every time I slipped it into my bluejeans. I looked down, to see if everything went Ok. : - ) It was so smooth. I was amazed. It never hung-up on the clip mounting screws, either. Always, all the way in. Easy out, too.

How's the RSK MK1-G2 when it comes to clipping the knife in your pants pocket and then removing the knife from your pants pocket? Do you think the handle scale texturing will sandpaper or eventually destroy your pants pockets?

It's not perfect, but not the best. I wouldn't call it sandpaper though.
