He's probably my favorite just because he did give a fuck. But his material I would say compliments theirs Doug definitely has the balsiest bits George had time, and obssession with language that made it a legacy. IDK ranking them is difficult if Doug was in 92 hed have been blacklisted and performing in the uk .Carlin luckily had 20 years of fan service. Internet really made me an addict for these bits. The only difference I'd say is that Carlin was much more calculated than Hicks and Stanhope. I claimed the exact same thing regarding the pledge of allegiance as a kid. I did it without thought until the 7th grade (small hick town), when I finally realized what I was doing. Pledge of Allegiance......when we're being taught about the German/Nazi pledge, etc. I started to refuse to do it. I was sent to the principal a ton and then they got my father involved. Even he was mad at me until I told him why - basically how insane it is and now felt to me, how un-American it seemed. From that moment he gave the ok. School still harassed me a bit and I after another talk with my dad they never forced me to do it under threat of punishment. I'd just stand and say nothing. A few friends understood when I explained it to them but they didn't stop until no longer asked to do it in the 9th grade. I wasn't at all trying to cause a stir or gain attention, btw! I was admittedly a bit of a class clowm but this was serious to me. I still don't like it and don't think it should be done at all. It's the opposite of what people think they are when claiming to be patriotic, free and American. It's swearing an oath to government, exactly as he Doug claims. Took me until age 12-13 to realize it. Crazy.
@luisa1466 жыл бұрын

A forced pledge is like a forced promise... ... it's void. (I've only seen one bit of evidence for a so-called 'German/Nazi pledge' - it was part of an US-propaganda newsreel and obviously produced to be an awkward version of the 'pledge of allegiance'. In Germany, a pledge was always more of a lipservice-like ritual for those, who could not be confronted with an oath.)

I don't know who you are mate, but today you're my hero. (always bewildered me, the land of the free requires an unconditional pledge of allegiance . . ?)

The pledge of allegiance has a very important function. It teaches kids that adults are idiots who are obsessively preoccupied with incredibly stupid, trivial shit. The natural talent that all people have for detecting bullshit hasn't been suppressed in kids and the pledge of allegiance is bullshit from start to finish. Why are the adults making you recite this bullshit over and over? What possible purpose could it serve? But it seems to make them happy so the only conclusion you can draw is that adults are stupid and the entire system of adult rules etc. is just going to be more of the same; meaningless repetition of empty bullshit.
