Pink Tones - Atom Heart Mother live Segóbriga Roman Amphitheatre

[July 17th 2016] We came back and played a whole concert here: • Pink Tones in concert ...
This is our Pink Floyd cover band, "Pink Tones" playing our version of Atom Heart Mother absolutely live at the 2000 year old "Segobriga Roman Amphitheatre", one hour from Madrid (Spain).
We wanted to do something with the "live at Pompeii" feeling but also different. Something that goes further than the usual tribute band stuff and add something else.
With lots of respect to the originals, but also letting us go with ideas, and the will to do something different, this is our homage to a great song, a great band, and, because of the way the song perfectly fits that ancient, haunting place, a tribute to that lost civilization.
We played the song 4 times, around noon, and each time the cameras were set in different places, in order to have as many video positions as possible and at the same time, not to see the camera men in the final video. If you see small inconsistencies between image and audio it's because we used video from all takes, but the audio is exclusively the Take 3. We used absolutely no EQ nor compression or any treatment, it sounded that good as it was.
Before someone asks, the guitar has no mic in front of the WEM cabinet because it's recorded directly through an Axe-Fx unit.
Well, we hope you like this, it was a magical day, full of joy, illusion and hard work, and absolutely soaked in a "big family" vibe, with lots of friends that got involved purely for love to art, just the way we imagine these kind of things were done back in the 70s.

Yeah, it captures the etherial quality of the original superbly. Where there are (pretty slight) divergences from Floyd's version they're not inferior ....... possibly a couple in the vocal section around the 8 minute + mark ar a fractional enhancement! I've seen the *real* Pink Floyd (and Aussie Floyd who are brilliant too) and I just can't complement this outfit highly enough. They are excellent.

Considering that this piece is in my top 5 pieces of music ever made, I have pretty high demands for how it's done. And this really is amazing. The only weak point was the brass section, who weren't quite in tune in the beginning, but they got it together towards the end. In every other way this is absolutely the best cover of this piece I've ever seen, and I mean that in every way. The staging was imaginative, beautiful, and appropriate. The photography worked with the band and the staging, to create something really awe inspiring. I appreciate the guitarist sticking to Gilmour's notes. I see this as a classical piece and those notes are important, not just jamming. The solo vocalist was put in a very difficult position, having to sustain both quality and attention on her own, without a full choir. She handled it beautifully and her vocals were by far the best on any cover. In fact, considering holding the whole thing up on her own, it's better than the album. Flawless, really. The band, by being true to the music, were also flawless, and did the best of any version I've heard. They took the piece seriously. I can't stress how important that is, it's respect. The end section of Funky Dung- and importantly, the drum break coming out of it- were flawless. And I've never seen that done properly before, by the band or by any version with Geesin, who deserves equal credit with the band for the creation of this. The end, with the choir behind the band, the vista in the background, was for me, literally breathtaking. Last night I watched several versions of the piece being performed live by different people in different settings. This was the best. Thanks for taking this seriously, treating it with the respect it deserves, and creating a true piece of art in performance, staging, and photography. If I've been too wordy in my praise, I can just say, I almost never do that. In this case, it's deserved. Well done.

I had the opportunity to be in one of your concerts in Valladolid some years ago. With my father. We are both Pink Floyd fans. And we can proudly say it was one of our best concerts of our life. This is awesome! The performance, the setting and the extraordinary effort to recreate a very challenging classic masterpiece from the Floyd. This is one of the few covers that I think is more enjoyable than the original, and I'm an Atom head. Loved the singers and costumes as well. I know the Floyd don't regard this album as one of their favorites, but it is one of mine. Pink Tones has more than done it justice. From now on, this will be my favorite rendition of Atom Heart Mother. Sacrilege, I know, but sometimes the original can be improved. This is just incredible.

When I was growing up as a teenager in the 90s I always heard musician friends saying Atom heart mother was sublime but it never hit me like other Floyd music. Your version and performance tho, has made me go to revisit the track. I was transported to the ancient greek theater (great edit, direction and atmosphere) with music that sounds like the soundtrack of the creation. Wonderfully done! I will keep watching this over and over in my life. Priceless

I have watched this clip nearly every day for 2 years, several times a day sometimes... my Six year old Autistic son absolutely adores this song, and will come running from wherever he is when I put it on. Thank You all so much for the stunning and inspiring rendition of this amazingly underrated masterpiece. I can not even recall when I last was into a song or musical score, as much as am into this. The improvement to my sons difficult life has been immeasurable, and I want you to know that... this song makes him more excited and happy, than any other song... he does love Echoes live at Albert Hall too... so he has impeccable taste in music.

This video just happened to pop up at random in my suggestions, but I'm so glad it did-wow. Again, wow. I'm thrilled at how much this resembles Live at Pompeii visually, but theatrically, you guys made it your own. Love the costumes for the singers, top notch production, a stellar mix... what kind of black magic did you all have to perform to get it to sound this good?! Your guitarist's tone and phrasing perfectly resembles the fuzz/pre-Big Muff era Gilmour. And the female vocalist delivered a stunningly beautiful performance. Absolutely incredible. Obra maestra! 👌👌 A Pink Floyd le encantaría saber que gente como vosotros sigue manteniendo su legado y de una manera admirable. Gracias por compartirlo. Fuí a verlos desde Fuerteventura hasta Madrid (Sala Riviera) para 3 horas de buena música, un concierto perfecto. Espero que volváis a dar conciertos para ir a verlos. Son los mejores. Pink Floy es para siempre.

Beautiful and with respect for the original version, wich for me is a highlight in the history of Pink Floyd. I know the band was not too happy with the record, but guys, listen to this: you wrote a timeless masterpiece!!! :)

Pink Tones - What an accomplishment! There may be other great cover versions, but none so beautiful to look at as this. Happy to subscribe, thumbs-up, and share to Facebook, where I said a few words. This really has heart! I don't listen much to PF tribute bands doing "the usual". This is definitely not "the usual"! Furthermore, thanks for cutting out the filler. This version is just pure quality all the way through! The choir and vocal soloist were truly epic, and filmed that way!
