Personally as a Canadian who visited both places I really admire both of them but If I had to choose the most interesting one I would go with Sidi Bou Said. I think it's simply because Sidi Bou Said is a historic town that wasn't rebuilt or adjusted much and modernized over time. It's an ongoing old piece of art that represents one of the most unique architectures in the world which is the Andalusian architecture. The history of the houses, the buildings and the streets is what makes the place more interesting and different. I was thinking about places to visit this summer and glad that your video popped up to me because I think I would love to revisit Tunisia again.

I think Santorini and Sidi Bou Said are quite different honestly. The common point between the two is the white and blue color theme + Mediterranean. But the architecture of Sidi Bou Said is typically North African (the doors, arches, mosaics etc) and it's a town with an old history. Not a recent touristic spot. The white and blue was already present before French colonization as seen in the paintings of Eugene de Lacroix but it was more heterogonous (not all houses were painted that way). But it was the Baron d'Erlangers who asked for all houses to be painted white and blue in the early 1900s. I'd say some of the houses of Djerba look more similar to Santorini than Sidi Bou Said houses do. PS: the bambalouni is not related to french beignet. They're actually probably of Andalusian origins. Variations of it exist in all the Maghreb countries (for example sfenj in Morocco) and legend says it was invented by accident when an Andalusian baker dropped dough in a hot pan of oil! Anyways lovely vlog and beautiful images really enjoyed it thank you!

Hi! Thanks for visiting our Tunisia🙏🏻 I'd like to mention that sidi bousaïd kept its couleurs and architecture since1829 until now you can observe that by the ancient 🖼what I mean by that Tunisia isn't imitating Greece in fact Greece used the white and blue couleurs in the beginning of 70s one more information sidi bousaïd is the first protected location in the world by unesco.. enjoy your time here in Tunisia such beautiful and amazing country with wonderful people❤️🇹🇳

May be he want to be free to discover by himself the country. It's more authentic and surprising, than following a guide even if he's a quite passionate about his country.

@@_______m________ He is also a guide. I know him quite well. His name is Rabii ben Brahim. He's a good vlogger. He hasn't traveled for a while. He mainly travels around Tunisia and he does a good job. What I meant is that sometimes a travel is more authentic and fresh when it is based on personal discovery, without assistance.

Thank you much Dougy; its gorgeous! When you next head to Egypt Red Sea areas (Sokhna, Sharm, etc); or North Coast (Marina, etc) you should show them Sidi Bou Sa’eed as the aesthetic template to use for their Communities - instead of those “cookie cutter” concrete eye sores. Only El Gouna - has the Sidi Bou Sa’eed level of “Mykonos” (Actually - Venice Beach!) laid back beauty.

8:40 that house with the yellow door belongs to a famous Tunisian painter and they rent in on Airbnb for people to stay there and seeing this video reminded me of the time I stayed at sidi bousaid and I was even more surprised to find the door of the house where I stayed. Amazing
