The old ruined houses in alkout are about 200 years old and they've been abandoned and crumbled with time. Also qaisariah souq is one of the oldest in the region it was built back in 1822. In regards to your inquiry about the old buildings in the old town, they have already been abandoned and they get damages because of erosion. I think they are kept to preserve architectural heritage of historical and cultural value for place identity. Just to mention, Al-Hasa is a big city and one week is not enough to cover! However, your fingerprint in demonstrating some sides of the city was amazing for one-day trip.

Watching this vlog I finally know the different between Mandhi Rice and Kabsa Rice. I Thought kabsa and mandhi is similar before. Arabic food is very tasty and rich of spices, I always eat twice a time when I eat it 😍. May Umroh and Hajj for International open again amid this omicron pandemic so we could visit for pilgrimage and tourist purpose. Thanks Dough for this vlog. Love it.

I used to work in Dhahran , KSA, for 5 years in the King Abdulaziz military hospital. We stayed in apartments in Al-Khobar which was very close to the causeway to Bahrain. The local people and food were great. Shopping for gold jewelry and buying branded cosmetics were our favorite thing to do. I wish I could travel back as a single woman tourist.

Doug, have you tried kabsa and Mandi in little Yemen (which resembles a Saudi neighborhood somewhat) in the Bronx white plains road? Al waha restaurant is my favorite and the qahwah coffee house in Williamsburg Brooklyn. For someone who was born in Jeddah , grew up in NYC and originally from Bangladesh, your content is the perfect mix!

This is my home city, and this place were bought by the government because the houses were not safe enough or the roads were too tight or this old houses hood become problematic, so they bought them, and they are planning to remove them as far as I know. I never thought I would see you in my home city, but hey glad you had a good time there. The Arabic accent in our city is like a southern American English, but this is Arabic of course.
